For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. HearH8085 this, all ye peoplesH5971; Give earH238, all ye inhabitantsH3427 of the worldH2465, Both lowH1121 and highH1121, RichH6223 and poorH34 togetherH3162. My mouthH6310 shall speakH1696 wisdomH2454; And the meditationH1900 of my heartH3820 shall be of understandingH8394. I will inclineH5186 mine earH241 to a parableH4912: I will openH6605 my dark sayingH2420 upon the harpH3658. Wherefore should I fearH3372 in the daysH3117 of evilH7451, When iniquityH5771 at my heelsH6120 compassethH5437 me about? They that trustH982 in their wealthH2428, And boastH1984 themselves in the multitudeH7230 of their richesH6239; None of them canH376 by any meansH6299 redeemH6299 his brotherH251, Nor giveH5414 to GodH430 a ransomH3724 for him; (For the redemptionH6306 of their lifeH5315 is costlyH3365, And it failethH2308 for everH5769;) That he should still liveH2421 alwayH5331, That he should not seeH7200 corruptionH7845. For he shall seeH7200 it. Wise menH2450 dieH4191; The foolH3684 and the brutishH1198 alikeH3162 perishH6, And leaveH5800 their wealthH2428 to othersH312. Their inwardH7130 thought is, that their housesH1004 shall continue for everH5769, And their dwelling-placesH4908 to allH1755 generationsH1755; They callH7121 their landsH127 after their own namesH8034. But manH120 being in honorH3366 abidethH3885 not: He is likeH4911 the beastsH929 that perishH1820. This their wayH1870 is their follyH3689: Yet after themH310 men approveH7521 their sayingsH6310. {{Selah They are appointedH8371 as a flockH6629 for SheolH7585; DeathH4194 shall be their shepherdH7462; And the uprightH3477 shall have dominionH7287 over them in the morningH1242; And their beautyH6697 shall be for SheolH7585 to consumeH1086, That there be no habitationH2073 for it. But GodH430 will redeemH6299 my soulH5315 from the powerH3027 of SheolH7585; For he will receiveH3947 meH5542. {{Selah Be not thou afraidH3372 when oneH376 is made richH6238, When the gloryH3519 of his houseH1004 is increasedH7235. For when he diethH4194 he shall carry nothing awayH3947; His gloryH3519 shall not descendH3381 afterH310 him. Though while he livedH2416 he blessedH1288 his soulH5315 (And men praiseH3034 thee, when thou doest wellH3190 to thyself,) He shall goH935 to the generationH1755 of his fathersH1; They shall neverH3808 seeH7200 the lightH216. ManH120 that is in honorH3366, and understandethH995 not, Is likeH4911 the beastsH929 that perishH1820.
