Women's Peace Work Highlighted at Mediterranean Catholic Meeting in Malta
From October 23 to 26, ninety-two participants from thirty-four countries gathered in Malta for the IV Meeting of Women from the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Organized by the World Union of Catholic Women's Organizations with support from Maltese Catholic groups, the event focused on women's roles in peacebuilding and community reconstruction. Speakers, including journalist Bassima Sam'an and lawyer Nuha Farran, emphasized that women's contributions to stability are often overlooked in decision-making processes. The attendees discussed protecting human dignity and supporting vulnerable migrants. The group concluded by calling for greater recognition of women's leadership in society and the Church to foster reconciliation.
