It does not go unnoticed that we are waking up early, early, early and showing up here to serve the body of Christ. Many of you, this might be one of two days that you actually get to sleep in just a little bit. James Hudson knows I like my sleep. Waking up early is tough. So thank you for being here. I'm just going to pray a blessing over you guys, but also just over the day. I think James has a really, really strong word today. Wonderful, prophetic for the time. You guys will get to hear it shortly, but we just want to pray over him as well. So, Father, we thank you for this time together. God, we thank you for your heart for us. God, that you love us. And God, I ask that we never get beyond the truth of the gospel. God, that we never get. That we never get beyond your love. That we never come to a place where we're just settled, thinking we understand you. But that we continue to just dive deeper and deeper and deeper into your heart. Because, Lord, we need you. We need you. We need you. And again, I say, we need you. God, to operate today, we need you. God, for the people coming in today, we need you. God, for the worship being led today, we need you. For the kids ministry, we need you. God, for the media team, we need you. For those greeting at the doors, we need you. Because without you, we need you. Without you, Lord, this is meaningless. This is nothing. Without your love, this is meaningless. This is nothing. God, give us a complete and total communion with you today in our hearts. That every one of us would lay aside any ounce of flesh that might be there. And we would fully embrace everything that you have for us today. If a couple of you would get around James and just pray over him. Father, we ask for James' word today. The word that you have given him. Lord, the word that you've given him. I say again, the word that you have given him. That this is not James Hudson bringing something. That's on his mind, Lord. That this is truly your word being spoken through him. God, I ask for complete clarity in the moment, Lord. That he would prophesy in faith. God, that the well that you have developed in him over many, many, many years. God, it would be like a spring just gushing out of the ground for all the people to receive. And for those receiving the word today, Lord, I ask in Jesus' holy name. In the name of Jesus, that we would come with open hearts to receive your truth. That we would come with open hearts. Receive your word. God, when they come in, it wouldn't be, okay, I'm coming into a Sunday message. But it would be, I'm coming in to hear the word of God today. That they would have sharpened ears to hear, Lord. Sharpened hearts, Lord. Open, ready to receive. That people would come in today ready to worship. God, that when they walk through these doors, there would be a sense of peace that surpasses understanding. That the cares of the world would lift off of them. That if there be any with a shroud over their mind of depression, anxiety, fear. God, any sort of ailment, whatever they have going on, Lord. That when they walk into this house, God, they would feel nothing but the welcoming love that you bring. Lord, let all these things be done by your spirit. Not by our power, not by our might, but by your spirit. Lord, that each and every one of us in this place would come. Ready to receive. Ready to pour out. To serve where we need to serve. To receive where we need to receive. And to be obedient for. Ultimately in full obedience and aligning our hearts with you today. In Jesus' name. In Jesus' name. Amen.

I know a lot of people that haven't been on pretty big stages, but not everyone else can relate to that. Like this is going to be like, what are you talking about? Like one time I did a play school. That was a pretty big stage. That's all I should say. Like she's literally performing in front of millions of millions or worship in front of millions of people. Not millions, but like, uh, he's just the only, oh my gosh. Okay. Like seven months basketball camp recently, like the last two, three months basketball. Same thing. The only time I ever got posted was one time. And as I can, they'd be taking a lot of the same pictures, the same people. Not going to hold. I was wondering what that was. I was like, I kept feeling the vibration. I was like, that's not the base in there. I was like, so you'd be, you'd be like freaking me out. You'd be making me think I'm off time because I was like, I look over and I'll just see you like do this and look at me. I was like, and I started asking, like, I thought I was on for like my own time now. Or like, yeah, you're off. I'm not going to lie. It's not timing. I would rather just shouldn't have got me like that either. That's just, you're so terrible for it. Like, I don't know. We aren't personalities, but it's almost like me and Luke, huh? He can only be around a certain amount of people a day for a certain amount of time. And he can only be around a certain amount of people for so long. So like my personality type, they just bring them up way too quickly. I think so. I'm for sure an extrovert. I'm not denying that. I think I have introvert tendencies that I didn't know about until I went to college. Now that I'm back, there's times where I like generally don't want to be around. But there's also people. When I don't want to be around people, that I could be around those people and it'd be okay. So like if I'm around Jaden and I want to be by myself, I'm going to be all right. Like me and Jaden will just chill. But like, as far as I'm like, not my sister. My sister's pretty quiet. I wouldn't want to be around my sister. I don't think my sister's fine. Yeah. I don't think. Yeah. Like all the boys, none of the boys I'd want to be. Those times have been like, you probably won't even see that again. I've never been like that my whole life. Maybe. Because once I got to college and I could have that and I could just be in my room by myself. Dude, I used to be in my room by myself all the time. But I'd always invite like certain people in from there. Maybe somebody would see what I probably would have. It was either Dallas has to die or like something else is dying. Then I don't want to die. So I had to like do it. Oh, I don't want to be in the blood of a man. Oh, how do you know? I heard that in New Orleans. Clap your hands. Don't be deceived. We thank You for who You are, that You are the Lord God omnipotent who reigns. We worship and praise You, for You alone are worthy of all of our praise. There is none like You. There is none that can be compared to You. There is no likeness. Ah, as You said, that the nations are as a drop in a bucket to You. They are counted. It is the dust on the scale of the balance that You sit in the heavens and You do whatever Your heart pleases. And Lord, I thank You that what Your heart pleases is altogether righteous. It's altogether holy. It's altogether pure. And it is altogether wise. For there is no God like You, the Creator of the ends of the earth, who faints not. And neither are You weary. Lord, our hearts are full of praise and worship unto You and giving You the glory and the honor that is due unto You. It is due unto You and to You alone, O God. Oh, our Lord, our Redeemer, our Savior, our King, the One who reigns in righteousness. Forever and forever and forever may His name be praised in heaven and in earth. Oh, we sing those songs and my mind goes to thinking about the character of God and the nature of God and who He is. I love to sing the song, but then my mind reflects upon who God really is. To consider that we are worshiping and we are in, in communion and fellowship and relationship with the One who created all things, who has come to dwell with us. He is transcendent, but He is also imminent. He is over all, but He comes. And He said, I make my habitation with men. Hallelujah. Thank you, team, for leading us to worship God and to be able to join with heaven and declare the glory of God. The glory and the majesty of Almighty God. Amen.

Amen. Well, we're going to release the young church in little bodies at this time. They can go to their place. And as you are seated, if you turn to someone and tell them you love them and don't lie, you don't have to lie to them. And guys, you ought to say that to your wife, especially. Amen.
Praise the Lord. Well, it is my privilege to come and to share the Word with you this morning. I love the Word because it reveals God to us. Some people don't read the Scripture because they may think it's boring, but I think it's wonderful because the whole purpose, and we'll talk about that as we share the Word this morning, but the whole purpose of the Scripture is God revealing, revealing Himself to us. I heard the question, and I'll ask you the question. If God desires and has expectation of us to praise and to worship Him, how could we do that if we didn't know Him? How could we do that if we do not understand who He is? Now, we cannot fully define God. We can talk about and describe Him, but to define Him, we cannot do that because He is infinite. And how do you describe that which is infinite? You ever thought about this? And I'll get to the 2 Corinthians here in a moment, but have you ever thought about this? We talk about eternity, but how do you define eternity? How do you describe eternity? We describe it in terms of time and space, but eternity is not time and space. I mean, you know, I just think about that. I don't know if maybe that's just where my mind goes, but I think about that, and it just boggles my mind. How in the world? But the reality of the fact is we get to worship the infinite God. There is no beginning, and there is no end. He always has been. As the little child said, who was before God? Well, God is. He always is. And we get to worship Him, and we get to magnify Him. Amen?
Well, we are in 2 Corinthians, and my assignment today is from 2 Corinthians chapter number 11, and it's the first 15 verses. Now, I'm not as tech savvy as some are, and so therefore, I don't have slides. I have my notes. I probably won't have any scripture up here, so you get to look it up and follow with us or take notes. So, I do want to read the passage of scripture that we are preaching from this morning. And in 2 Corinthians chapter 11, beginning at verse number 1, the scripture says, as Paul is writing this to the church at Corinth, he said, Oh, that you would bear with me in a little. And indeed, you do bear with me. For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I might present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest somehow, as a serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who, who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you may well put up with it. For I consider that I am not at all inferior to the most eminent apostles, even though I am untrained in speech, yet I am not in knowledge. But we have been thoroughly manifested among you in all things, that I commit sin and humbling myself that you might be exalted, because I preach the gospel of God to you free of charge. I robbed other churches, taking wages from them to minister to you. And when I was present with you and in need, I was a burden to no one. For what I lacked, the brethren who came from Macedonia supplied, and in everything I kept myself from being burdensome, to you. And so I will keep myself as the truth of Christ is in me. No one shall stop me from this boasting in the regions of Achaia. Why? Because I do not love you. God knows. But what I do, I will continue to do, that I may cut off the opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the things which they boast. For such, are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore, it is of no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their work.
So we're talking about, being steadfast in truth. Now, Paul, as we've read this and as has been shared in the last couple of weeks, in chapter number 10, especially he's talking about dealing with those who proclaim that they are somebody. And they were, Paul says that they are false apostles. They come and they preach to you really another gospel. So, he's dealing with false doctrine and false apostles. And he really tells us how to identify these false apostles. He said, they compare themselves back in chapter 10. They compare themselves one with another. In fact, they try to outdo one another. I've got this, I've got this. Let me tell you what I got from God. And so they compare themselves and really trying to outdo themselves. And they go beyond their measure and they are trying to influence people beyond that which God would have given to them. And Paul said, I'm going to stay within my measure. I know what I have and I know what has been given to me. And I do not go beyond my measure. Then I say that I've, that's one of the things that God has dealt with me. And I try to stay within my lane. Because I know my measure. And if I try to go beyond that, you ever tried to talk about something you didn't know anything about? And you tried to make yourself look better than what you really are? Doesn't work, does it? Eventually, you will be found out. They're not as smart as what they made themselves out to be. Everybody thinks you're real wise until you begin to talk. And then your speech betrays you. And, you know, I just don't want to go beyond what God has given me. And his concern for Corinth, that they were being moved by a presentation and an appeal to the census. I've heard preachers preach and they can turn a good phrase. They can sound wonderful. And they can stir up your emotions. And just, they know how to work a crowd. And they appeal and people will follow after that, which appeals to their senses. That which makes them feel good. It sounds so good. It sounds wonderful. And people begin to follow after that, because it tickles their ears. It makes them feel good. Instead of that, which is established, established in the truth of the scripture. Paul says, guard your devotions. He said, bear with me a little in folly. You know, Paul didn't want to, he really didn't want to quote unquote, brag on himself, but he did need to establish the foundation that was there, that he had laid with them in Corinth. And he says, for I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy, jealousy. When someone is jealous, that means that the one that they have been given to, they take and they give something to someone that it doesn't belong to. A jealous wife. I'll meddle a little bit here. A jealous wife is probably jealous, sir, because you're giving attention to some other woman. And Paul says, I am jealous of you with a godly jealousy, because you're giving your affections to someone and to something that you, you were, you're not given to. He said, he says this, he says, for I have betrothed you to one husband. I have promised you to one husband. And that husband is Jesus. And you're moving away from the gospel that has been preached to you. You're moving away. You're, you're running after something else because to see meddlesome affairs do not start physically. They start emotionally. You begin to look because this person makes you feel good. They honor you. Why do you flirt?
My wife has been such a good help to me. I don't think I'm being flirty, but she says you are because of what you're wanting to get out of me. And elicit out of that person. And she's jealous because I'm trying to get from someone else. What she alone is able to really give me to glorify God and to praise God and to bring God glory and to bring God honor and just, just feel for the not good. So guys and gals cause gals can do this too. I want you to check yourself. I have to check myself. And again, I thank God for my wife, who helps me to see things that I don't see. I think I'm just having fun and just being a, you know, you know me, I'm fun loving and, and all, but she helps me to make sure that I'm not desiring and really giving something to someone else. Something that belongs only to her, my devotion to her, the pure love that God has given to us. He says, he says, I fear, lest somehow has the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness. So your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. The purity of the gospel to run after someone or something other than Jesus. How did Eve get deceived? Well, the serpent came to her and said, has God not said that you could eat everything that's here in the garden? Now he started off with something that was true. That God said, everything you can, there's, there's no limit except for one. This is one. And she said that God said not to eat of this tree nor even touch it. Now here's where the deception comes in. Because he started off with that which was, was really true. That God said, now you can have this. But then he diverted her attention and he said, in essence, you know, yeah, God said that. Do you know why he didn't want you to partake of that fruit? Because he's trying to keep something from you that's really good.
To come and to, to give our devotion to someone else or to something else. It gives us the idea that this over here can be even better. You ever heard the statement, the grass seems to be greener on the other side of the fence, you know, cows will be eating or whatever. And they're always straining at the fence and trying to get the grass outside of the fence. Let me tell you something. The grass outside of the fence is just like the grass inside of the fence. And the fence is there to protect you. So if you're being tempted and drawn away by false doctrine, or even this just seems to be where it's going here. And even being tempted to look somewhere else, outside of your marriage, the grass, it's, it's still grass. Remember I was talking to one guy and he, he was wanting to divorce his wife. They were having some problems. And finally he divorced her. And after he divorced her, I asked him, I said, well, did you get what she was wanting? And he said, no, I got more problems now than what I had. Duh.
You get outside the fence and you get in the road and you're going to get hit by a car. Because God sets fences. For our protection. Not to keep us from something that is good. The reason why that God said don't eat of this fruit, of this tree, is because it is something that is reserved to me and to me only. Because if you try to do what I, and be who I am, because did not the serpent say to her, God knows that if you eat of that, you're going to be like him. Now he didn't say you're going to be greater than him. He said, you're going to be like him. And that's what Satan got kicked out of heaven to begin with. Scholars tell us, Isaiah 14 tells us that Lucifer was cast out and he said in his own heart, I will rise up in the heavens and I'll be like God. He didn't say he's going to be greater than. He said, I'm just going to be like him. Because see, we want to set our own standards. We want to do that which is pleasing to us.
And we become man centered instead of God centered. I love what the saints of old, they said this, that what is the purpose of man? The purpose of man is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever. How do we enjoy him? We enjoy him by getting to know him.
That's why that it is imperative that we take time in the word for ourselves. Why were they deceived? They were listening to voices on the outside. There are many voices around today. You can hear all kinds of preacher. I remember years ago, they had this radio station that was out of Mexico and these preachers would get on there. Some of y'all may be old enough to remember XCRF out of Ciudad Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico. And they had this one guy on there, Reverend Ike. You ever heard of Reverend Ike? And his thing was, you can't lose with the stuff I use. And he was preaching another gospel other than Jesus Christ. And he was drawing attention to himself. But I say that because there are many preachers that are out there. And how are we going to protect ourselves from being deceived except by us knowing the truth? You know, I don't want you to believe something just because I say it. Just because I'm an elder here at DLC. I don't want you to believe just because I say it. I want you to be like those who were in Berea when Paul went there and he preached there and he taught there. And he said they were more noble because they searched the scriptures to see if what was said was true. But James, I don't have time. You don't understand. I have to work. I have to take care of my family. I have so many responsibilities. You know, I think probably one of the best things that ever happened to me was when I came to DLC almost 40 years ago. And I no longer was making my living by preaching. I had to be just like you. I had to work at a job. I had a family. A family that was increasing because when we came, we had three children. And after we got here, somehow we had four more. And I had to provide for them. But it didn't take away from my responsibility of being in the word and to study. Now, I couldn't maybe give myself as many hours, but I still had to give myself so that I could know God. You know, the scripture says in John chapter number eight, Jesus was talking to the disciples and he said, abide in my word. And then you are my disciples. Indeed. And then he went on to say, and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Now, he didn't say people, people misquote this. They live part of it off.
They just say the truth will set you free. No, he said, you abide in me and my words are going to abide in you. And then you're my disciples. And then you shall know. That is that you will have experience in the word that you will have communion with me. And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. We're always wanting eternal life. Jesus came that you might have life and that you might have it more abundantly. What does that mean? Does that mean you're going to have more money in your pocket, better houses and finer cars and more trendy cars? And trendy clothes and no eternal life. And the abundant life is that you get to know God more. Jesus, whenever he was praying to the father in John chapter number 17, he said, he said, and I pray for them that they may have eternal life. And he said, and this is eternal life. You know what eternal life is. It's not that you just never die. We think about eternal life is I'm going to live forever. And I'm going to die. I know never. And you know, I'm going to be joyous and all of this. No, he said, this is eternal life that they may know. You know, is not just about knowing about God, but that word no, there means to experience that you may experience the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. That's eternal life. The eternal life is a constant. It's the kind of life. Eternal is the kind of life. That is that we enjoy the presence of God in the reality of God and that we know him.
There are two aspects that I think of, of knowing God. And that is, first of all, to know his transcendence. That's just a big word. That means that he is over everything that he is the creator and that he rules over everything. He is transcendent. So what I was having reference to a while ago, as we were wrapping up our time of, of our singing is, is knowing that, that we experience God, the creator of the ends of the earth and all that he is, the galaxies that you cannot see and that you can see that God created everything that he is transcendent overall.
But yet he is imminent. That is that he has come. To dwell with us. And we can abide with him forever. And in him, Paul said, I'm jealous. He said, because I want to present you to the one you have been betrothed to as a chaste virgin, one who is pure. He said, for if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit, which you've not received or different gospel, which you have not accepted, you may put well put up with it. Paul kept having to deal with this and all the churches, because if you, if you read over in Galatians chapter number one, he asked them, said, how are you so quickly removed from the gospel that's been preached to you? He, he kept having to deal with these guys that were coming in and, and, and expressing and trying to share with these people. We really have something that you, you need to hear. And they were trying to be like Paul. And they had a false gospel because they were drawing people to themselves. Follow after me. I got something better. That's the craftiness of the serpent in the garden. Follow after me. I got something better. God's trying to keep something from you. I'm trying to give you everything. You follow after me. You'll have full knowledge. You'll have full understanding of all things. If you follow after me, because I'll tell you everything. And if they don't focus on Jesus, they're like Reverend I, you can't lose with the stuff I use. You don't have lots of money. Do what I do. Send me your money.
And how are we going to not be deceived? It starts with us guarding the truth and our eyes not being diverted from God's instruction. Again, Eve saw that it was good. It looked good. It sounded good. And surely God wouldn't want me not to be happy. And God want me to be happy and enjoy life in the fullness. And the way that we enjoy the fullness of life is in him. And besides that, the scripture does say, and this is what we don't like. And we'll talk about this probably next week because talk about persecution next week. Nobody likes to talk about persecution. But the scripture does say that all who will live godly will suffer persecution. Jesus said in this world, you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world because we're not just living for this moment and what we can have in this world, but we are living for an eternal perspective. The eternal God. If God was just temporary and a temporal thing, then I could understand that. But our God is not temporal. He's not just for a season, but he is eternal. And he has called us to enjoy him forever. We think about going to heaven and so many songs. I'm going to get to see mama. I'm going to get to see daddy. Oh, and by the way, I'm going to see Jesus. You know, we can't forget about Jesus because, you know, he's there. But really the big thing we're looking for is I want to see mama. I want to see Aunt Pearl. I want to see grandpa. I want to see all of these. And we're going to have us a big family reunion. Oh, and by the way, Jesus is there too. As if, you know, he's that, he's that crazy uncle. You know, we got to put up with him a little bit too. I know I'm being funny, but, but, you know, that's really sometimes the way that we, we look at this at every, you know, we're so tempted. So, so earthly minded. We're no heavenly good. We, we're our, our confidence and our focus is not in him, but he has called us to himself. Paul told Timothy, he said, study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, but rightly dividing the word of truth. He said, you have to give yourself. I challenge you. If you don't get any challenge out of me today, other than this, let it be this.
Take time in the word. So that you will not be deceived. You will not be moved, but you will be established, firm and steadfast to glorify God, because it's not about us and our, our ease and our comfort. It's about him and bringing glory to him. All things. The scripture says in, in revelation chapter number four, when they're there before the third, the throne, and they're saying, holy, holy, holy is the Lord for you have created all things. And for your pleasure, they are. And we're created for your purposes. They are. And we're created. You are here to glorify him. You are here for him. Is he for here for you? Yes, but our glory is in him and in him alone. Paul said, even though I'm untrained in speech, that's what they kept saying. You're not a good preacher. Paul's not a good preacher. We, we, we can now preach Paul. And he said, I may have been untrained in how to speak. I may not be good at three points in a poem.
Homiletically, you know, you're supposed to have three points poem and, and all of this and have it all wrapped up. He said, he said, I may be untrained in how to speak, but I'm not in knowledge. I know God and the God I preach to you. Is the only true God. He said, I, I didn't, I didn't ask you to take care of me.
I wasn't taking an offering for myself. I wasn't trying to do anything for me. He said, in fact, there were others that were taking care of me. He said, maybe I did wrong in that, but he said, that's what I did. And he said, as it, as the truth of Christ is in me, no one shall stop me from this boat in the regions of Achaia.
Why? Because I do not love you. He said, God knows, but what I will do, what I'm going to do, that I may cut off the opportunity from those. Now notice what he says in this phrase, next phrase, who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are. He said in message that Glenn preached so great in first, in chapter number 10, about the weapons of all warfare, not carnal, but they're mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.
My friend, if it does not exalt God, if it's the purpose is not to bring glory and honor unto God, does God care about us? Yes, but he did say, seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these other things will be added unto you. You pray, give us this day our daily bread. Yes, God is concerned about your natural things.
He's concerned about your life. He's concerned about your clothing. He said with clothing and lodging, he said, be content. Don't be trying to get more than anybody else. I mean, you can only wear one shirt at a time. You can only drive one car at a time. I mean, we just moved into a house this last year. Some of you may or may not know. We purchased a home. We lived in a mobile home for years and we purchased a home. But, you know, that thing gets so big. Somebody, somebody was so nice. They gave us a piece of ribbon with a belt on it so that we could know where each other were in case we got lost in this house. You know, if you have a hundred and fifty room mansion, you get lost in that. Now, I'm not saying anything. If you've got a big house, that's okay. I mean, I'm not, I'm not saying anything. But if that is our goal, if that is our purpose in life, that is going beyond what God has for us. I'm not downgrading God blessing. Please hear me, hear me, hear me, hear me. But our goal is God, whatever it is that we can glorify you with. That's why. And don't be so super spiritual. Well, God's going to be glorified. No, let's check our hearts and see what our relationship is. With God. So we guard the truth. We guard our devotion. We guard our truth. And we, then we guard our discernment. How are we discerning the truth? Paul did say in Romans 12, he said, don't be conformed or be fashioned after this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. How are our minds renewed? It's in the word. How do we know what God desires? How do we know him? How, how do we know anything? It's only because he has revealed himself to us through the scripture. Paul laid down his life for them. He gave himself. He did not demand anything from them. You know, and I'll just take, take a moment here. I say this whenever I receive the offering around here. It's not that we desire a gift. We're not wanting anything for ourselves. We desire God to bless you. We desire that God, increase you that you may have, not that we may have. We want to see you blessed. That's our desire. We're not in this for ourselves. We are in it to lay down our lives for you.
That's what Paul said. He said, I robbed others. He said, I didn't take anything from you, but our discernment comes as we study to show ourselves approved unto God. And we, as I've already mentioned, we're like those of Berea, who will search the scriptures to see if they be true. What is being taught. Some people don't read the scripture because they think it's boring. Well, how, you know, that's like saying, you know, I don't want to get to know my wife. I don't want to get to know my husband because that'd be boring. Honey, if you're bored, you need to go back and start off with Jesus and then thank God for the one that he has given to you. In fact, Paul, excuse me, Peter said that guys, we are to dwell with our wives according to knowledge. That is, that we know them, that our prayers be not hindered. You having trouble with getting your prayers answered, sir? Get to know your wife. Oh, that doesn't sound very spiritual. That's what Paul, excuse me, what Peter said. Get to know your wife. There's a treasure there. I'm coming back to marriage. There's a treasure in your wife. Have you ever looked at your wife and said, those of you that are married, have you, have you, have you ever looked at your wife and thought this is a treasure that God has given to me? In fact, I tell my wife every once in a while, I love everything about you and I like everything about you. Even those things which irritate me because those things which irritate me show me where I need some, some, some changing and some correction in my life. And we've had a lot of them. I have had a lot of them, but I searched the word. I searched the word so that it will correct me. They correct me. They bring about the peaceable fruits of righteousness. Guard your discernment. How do I guard my discernment? In the word, in the word. I keep hammering this. It's in the word. Study, give yourself to the word. Paul said, I betrothed you to one husband. Guard your devotion to him. Guard your devotion to him. Guard the truth that has been taught to you and guard your discernment so that you can be steadfast in the truth, unmovable, always abounding in the grace of the Lord.
Let me pray for you this morning. Lord, I pray for those that you have given to us. I pray for these, your people. I pray, Lord, that you would challenge us and stir us to desire you more. More than anything else. That we would guard our heart. We would guard that which you have given to us. That we may glorify you and bring you praise and bring you honor. Thank you, Lord, that you have spoken to us to search the word, to be established and be steadfast in your word. For your word is true. I thank you for it. In Jesus' name. We're going to go to the Lord now with the Lord's Supper, with our communion.
Thank you. With our communion. The ushers are passing out. Take one of these. You can tear the little cellophane off the top. We are betrothed to one, Jesus Christ.
We are married to him. And when we come to communion, we are celebrating his death and his resurrection, what he did for us on the cross. But on the cross, it just simply brings us into that communion and that relationship in that marriage with him. And we are celebrating also. We are celebrating our union with him. The fact that he gave his body and he gave his blood to bring us into that covenant relationship. Because see, marriage is a covenant relationship. And if we're celebrating a covenant relationship with him through the bread and through the fruit of the vine, we're celebrating a covenant, if you please. We are married to one, Jesus Christ. And we are declaring our devotion to him. That's part of what communion is. We are declaring our devotion to him. That he has given himself to us. And we are giving ourselves to him.
He has given everything that he could give, his very life. And how can we give less to him?
Scripture says that the night that Christ was betrayed, he took the bread and he broke it. He said, this is my body, which is broken for you. I'm giving you my body. Scripture says that with his stripes, we were healed. And so we are remembering again that he gave his body. He gave his flesh to be bruised and broken, that we might be free. Lord, I thank you this morning that you have given to us your body, broken for us, that we might be joined together with you. I pray for those who need healing this morning as they partake of the bread.
I pray for healing for them, that you would come and you would show yourself strong on their behalf and that you would be glorified and exalted by healing those who are sick. I praise you. Lord, I just want to take a moment, even as we are partaking of the bread, praying for Jet this morning, your healing for his body as well. We thank you for your body broken. In Jesus' name, let's partake of the bread together.
And he took the cup and he said, this is a covenant in my blood, which is shed for you. Betrothed to Christ, that we follow him and the truth of his word. Lord, I thank you that you seal the covenant with your blood, poured out everything that you had, not only your body broken, but your very life blood, sealing our communion, our commitment, our covenant, our marriage with you.
I thank you for it. And as we partake, we do so declaring, declaring our loyalty and our commitment to you and to you alone.
You have our full devotion in Jesus' name. Let's partake of the cup. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Just give him a moment to praise and worship him and thanksgiving to him.
John's coming to conclude our service. Very good word. Very good word. Challenging things. Thank you. You guys believe that was a word of the Lord? Tangible, isn't it? We can have hearts to receive what God's doing. As we're gonna continue our worship now with our tithes and offerings, James mentioned this, that it's not about what the church is receiving solely. It's about the gift that it is for you and the blessing it is in your own life. I've even heard elders in our house say, go give it to another local congregation. If you think it's about us, go give it to another congregation for a couple of months and just see what the Lord does even in that, if you have a challenge with that. Proof's in the pudding, as they say. Beautiful. It's beautiful.
So we have a couple of ways that you can give. Number one, in the seat back in front of you, there is an envelope. If you don't mind just putting your tithe in that and mark it as the tithe, that would be great. Another way we have to give is through our text to give, which is that phone number right there. You can use that. If you've never done it before, just send a text to that and it will just give you all the prompts that you need to, to get set up. Then you can also give online at dlc.tv. So we're going to take a minute here. Let's just take some time to pray that, Lord, that we just want to give back to you what is yours. God, we trade our time all week for the provision that you provide. Lord, I pray that those in need of jobs would receive them, that doors would be open in Jesus' name. Father, I pray that those in need right now that have jobs but are just in need or potentially even in financial crisis, Lord, that you would be with them, that you would be their comfort, that you would be the provider, that you would make a way however you see fit, and Lord, you would work in their hearts everything that must be worked out. God, we love you and we are so grateful for all that you do for us, that you are the true provider and that we rely on you. God, we thank you. We ask you to bless the tithe, God, that it would multiply among the body in this local house, Lord, that it would be honoring and good for your name's sake. In Jesus' name, amen and amen. And as you may have heard, they faced some tragic, truly tragic conditions, earthquakes, and other things going on. So, clothing, go a long, long way for them. It'll be on the QR code on the flyer on your seat if you want to see like a full list of ways that you can support. I've seen people coming in with full bags just to get clothes. It's just wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. And it's more of a blessing than you would realize.
So, please consider doing that for us. intermeneutics coming up at Christ College. Because it's called Christ College, you might think that you have to register how it was written, when it was written, and the context as a whole of the Word of God. I am a graduate of Christ College and I am telling you it is incredible. More than anything, I learned all the things that I don't know. But they give you incredible teaching tools and ways for you to grow in your faith, particularly with the Word of God because the Word of God can be, you know, sometimes for people it can be very overwhelming. James has given us this call to be in the Word, to study the Word. That can be a challenge for many reasons. You might think it's boring or you might think it's over your head. But the Gospel is meant to be simple. The truth of the Lord is meant to be simple to us. And so, you can come there and you can learn how to study . Thank you for a timely Word in season. Yeah, we thank you for a practical Word. We thank you for the Bible, God, your Word to us. God, that we can come with expectation that we will learn and grow in our faith and knowing who you are. That we won't be swayed by different doctrines but we will be able to get into the Word and grow in your wisdom, in your truth, in your heart. Lord, today I ask in Jesus' name, God, that there be, if there be any need among us, Lord, that that need would be met emotionally, spiritually, financially, and spiritually. Again, if you guys need prayer, please don't leave. We'll be here in this atmosphere for as long as we need to be.
