I'm thinking about the holiness of Jesus. I'm thinking about the forgiveness of sin. I'm thinking about what Christ accomplished. accomplished. And it's just, I want to sing and I want to declare, I don't want anybody to take my place in worship. I could not dare just be in a room like that when the saints are singing about the glorious Lord. How many know what I'm talking about? And so the worship, I don't want you to sing for me. I want you to lead me.
I don't want you to sing in my place. Is anybody here with me? I want to worship him. And I believe when I look around and I see you worshiping, I know you know what it means for your sins to be forgiven. There are no true worshipers that don't know that their sin is forgiven. Those of you that know what it means of the mercy and the grace of the Lord Jesus, worship just rises out of you. Father, I thank you for the precious gift of your son, Jesus, that we've just sung and we've just declared. The forgiveness of sin, the mercy, the holiness of God.
Lord, I bless you. All that's within us, we declare you and we thank you. Wow. Right there where you are. Why don't you just bless him out of your heart? Would you, if you've not taken a moment out of your mouth, if you have not raised your hand, if you want to do that, if you, whatever, just out of your own heart, just tell him you love him. Acknowledge who he is. Let your spirit rise up, and worship.
So, Father, I just honor the glorious name that's above every name. We've sung of Yahweh. We've sung of the King. We have sung and declared the glory of God. We've declared the forgiveness of sin, and we worship and honor you. And to you, we give all the glory and the praise. If you agree with that, say amen. Amen.

In the coming weeks, if you drive around the building and you wonder what in the world is going on out here, out back. Anybody wonder that? Well, that is the pad that will be for four large, large classrooms in order for us to be able to bring Claremore Christian School Elementary in its entirety to this location. All right? And you'll be hearing more about that in coming weeks. We'll introduce it more fully. And we have been able to secure four large, modular buildings that will be able to be placed on that property. It'll look really nice the way it's going to be designed and laid out.
And it allows us to enlarge here. And we'll talk more about that. But just in case you drive around, you think, what are they doing? Are they enlarging the parking lot? Or what are they doing? Well, that's a process of that. Trust you had a great 4th of July time together and celebrating. We, last week, spent some time praying over our nation, gathered here on the grounds.
I don't know how many people were here on the grounds Thursday night, but there's a ton of people here. And we celebrated and prayed over our nation. Well, so thank you for celebrating and being a part of that. Today and next Sunday is a two-part new series called Authority is Spiritual, Not Carnal. Okay? It is spiritual, not carnal. When we're preaching through a book of the Bible, like 2 Corinthians, you want to go there with me in chapter 10. Actually, chapter 10, 11, or 12, all three of those chapters are significant chapters.
Chapters in my life. There are some areas where back in the 80s, I began to see and understand some things that affect us and are part of the foundation of this house today that really transformed my life in many ways. And so today and next Sunday, I think, are significant times for us to at least walk through the first part and second part of chapter 10. So, when we look in that passage there, authority, I think, is probably the one of the most misunderstood subjects in the body of Christ. In fact, the word authority can almost be a four-letter word, can it? And I want you to understand why. It's because biblical and spiritual authority is nothing like what you have been told that authority is. Because authority in the world, it has a whole different mindset.
It is often power. It's often intimidation. It's often coercion. It's often force. It's often all those things that are not the kingdom of God. So, we wrestle with that in our minds. How is Christ in full authority? It's almost if we don't understand that.
Therefore, it's difficult, I think, in the body of Christ to actually discern authority. Because in the kingdom, it operates totally different than what you have seen or what you've experienced. And the critics that were coming against Paul was able to use that against the Corinthians because they, too, would have seen authority from a worldly perspective and probably even a Roman or Greek philosophy of what authority is. And so, they accused Paul of being bold in his letters but timid in his person. And they mistook meekness for weakness because if you don't understand spiritual authority, because it's not carnal at all. And he addresses that. So, I think one of the greatest temptations in the church, if we're not careful, is to try to fight spiritual battles with carnal means. We can get over into it real quickly.
Have you ever felt you're in a situation where you're in a situation where you're in a situation where you're in a situation where you're in a situation where you're in a situation where you're flesh rising up? I'm just going to give them a piece of my mind. Anybody ever thought that when you're on social media? That's not spiritual authority. I want to talk to you about it. If we feel attacked, what do we want to do? We want to defend ourselves with a similar approach, don't we? We don't realize how much of Corinth is in us.
You understand what I just said? The spirit of Corinth got in the Corinthian church. And so, these false apostles, were able to actually bring accusation against Paul, who had this massive grace of God working in his life. So much so, I don't think I comprehend that. I don't think you and I comprehend that. Because a grace was given to him, he says in Galatians, that was equal to the grace given to Peter. And Peter was seen as one of the original 12 apostles that Christ selected himself. And the reason that Paul had the authority to write scriptures and open the revelation of Christ to the nations and to the Gentiles is that God had graced him with the spiritual authority.
Now, if that was not dealt with appropriately in the modern technology, we would have made him into a celebrity. And I'm grieved in the church over celebrity mentality. There should not be any celebrities in the body of Christ. That doesn't mean you don't honor. Honor is different. Honor is totally different. It has a different intentionality. If you're attracted to celebrities in the body of Christ, I command you to repent.
Because that's part of Corinth, isn't it? Oh, I shook so-and-so's hand. Stop it. Is that okay? We've built the church on celebrity status, which is not biblical. You can say amen. Just because I'm up here doesn't mean I can't say amen to that either. It's serious.
That's why God's uncovering things in the church right now. I know what it's like for people. Look at me in an exalted means. And in the 80s, God made sure I was torn down. I'll warn you now, if you get exalted, you'll also be torn down by the same one who made idols out of you. God will see to it that they tear you down. It may be longer than what you think, but it's coming. You may understand what I'm saying.
So for Paul to have that measure, I don't think he understood except this. God gave him a messenger from Satan. I don't know what that does for your theology. It can mess it up, can it? What's a messenger from Satan? It's a demon. We'll teach about that later. It's a messenger from Satan that God, come on, assigned to him lest he become exalted above measure.
What was that demon? Here's what I think it was. I think the thorn in the flesh was that that messenger, wherever he went, opposed him that he was nothing. Look at him. He's not good in appearance. Look at him. He can't even preach. Look at him.
He's not good in appearance. And everywhere he went, it was there, lest he become exalted above measure. And Paul prayed three times for it to be taken away. And God said to him, what? My grace is sufficient. You see, Paul could have perverted the very revelation that God gave him had he not been kept in that place of humility. So he's trying to explain what spiritual authority here is in these first 11 verses. Let's read it together, could we?
Verse one says, by the humility and gentleness of Christ. Start with that right there. Who's the model? Christ. In two words, what is it? Meekness and humility. That's the model. He said, I, Paul, who am timid when face to face with you, but bold towards you when I'm away.
That's what they were saying. So that's in quotes there, timid and bold. I beg you that when I come, I may not have to be bold as I expected to be towards some people who think that we live by the standards of this world. In other words, there's an expectation that he's going to respond in a certain way, that he's going to respond as the word. would, with boldness and loudness and commanding, not at all. But yet when he showed up, watch this, spiritual authority would deal with people and they wouldn't even know what was happening, but God was using that to address it, uncover, expose. See, when God's authority is working, sometimes you don't even know it until after the fact. Why do those people get exposed? Paul says, because when I show up, he's not acting differently.
He's not coming loud. He's not coming intimidating, but he knew the grace of God that was upon him. For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. Remember this. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish stronghold. Remember that, okay? We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take it to the next level.
We take it to the next level. We take it to the next level. We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ, and we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience once your obedience is complete. That's a hard verse there. We'll talk about that. Then he goes on to say, verse 7 through 11, you are judging by appearance, which is what people do. If anyone is confident that they belong to Christ, they should consider again that we belong to Christ just as they do. So they're saying they belong to Christ, but they were acting in worldly authority.
And he said, you got to remember, I belong to Christ just as much. So even if I boast somewhat freely about the authority the Lord gave us for building you up rather than tearing you down, true spiritual authority is to encourage and build you up, never to tear you down. There's a big difference. I will not be ashamed of it. I do not want to seem to be trying to frighten you with my letters, or some say his letters are weighty and forcible, but in person, he's unimpressive, and his preaching is terrible. I've taken those letters. I've taken those letters. I've taken those letters.
I've taken those letters. He's speaking amounts to nothing, I said. Such people should realize that we are in our letters when we are absent. We will be in our actions when we're present. He said that you just don't understand that it is spiritual. They're not carnal. So let's talk about this, okay? Let's talk about authority.
What does he start off with? Through meekness and humility. Authority and meekness. He says by humility and the gentleness of Christ that I'm going to come to you. So Paul began to say, his defense really in a surprising way, doesn't he? He does not begin with his credentials. He doesn't start here by threatening them. He doesn't boast in that sense.
He rather appeals to them through what? Model of meekness and gentleness of Christ. Meekness is not weakness. The world will tell you, you have to assert yourself. Play with me. Spiritual authority, I'll show you what he means by spiritual warfare, what some people would call spiritual warfare that he identifies here that are mighty through God. Here though, Paul describes it opposite from the world where the world equates authority with dominance.
Christ demonstrates it through humility. It was said in the book of Matthew, the gospel of Matthew, as he quoted out of Isaiah. I've thought about this verse a lot over the years. In 1988, this verse became a reality. I was associated with a very popular minister at that time, very charismatic, strong, powerful teacher, had a revelation of the soul and the spirit, but he himself was very intimidating and brought a lot of wound into people. And I became influenced by him. And it's out of that time when God began to deal with me, I became influenced by him. And it's out of that time when God began to deal with me about this verse of scripture here.
And it said of Christ, it says, he will not quarrel or cry out, nor will you hear his voice in the streets. Loudness doesn't mean authority. You just lost all your authority. Come on, mom and dad, I'm preaching. If a husband, I'm the head of this house. You're not acting like it. That's not authority. If a leader, stay with me, demands, then it's not authority.
I'm telling you, it slips in so easily. Doesn't it? Slips in so easily. And if we don't get loud, we manipulate. If you really love Jesus, you would be here. I sure have been missing you. If you're really faithful to Jesus, you'd be here. Now, we wouldn't say it like that, but we've got ways of saying it, right, if we're not careful.
That's not authority. He will not cry, nor his voice be heard in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. Till he has brought justice through victory in his name, the nations will put their hope. Everything that God does, does it in the in a way that's not of the world. I remember going to that brother I was telling you about, 1988, and met with him in Texas, and I said, brother, I put myself in there with it. Jesus said his voice would not be heard in the street. Ours have been heard across the nation.
Jesus said he would not even bend a bruised reed. We've chopped down redwoods. Jesus said he would not even put out smoldering flax, and we've put out fire, forest fire, saying that you can come on so strong that you think you're in spiritual authority. And you're not. And therefore, the church has been afraid of the word authority. Come on. Homes and families are afraid of the word what? Authority.
Employees are afraid of the word authority. Why? Because we have seen opposite of the kingdom. Jesus said this way, among the nations, the Gentiles, they want to exercise authority. That means exuadzo, means to bring someone under your influence. And Jesus said in the kingdom, it can't be. That's interesting, isn't it? Because we think we're not in authority if we're not.
And so we have to understand some things about what it is. When it says about Philippians, about Jesus, when he was exalted, what did he do? He humbled himself even to the death of the cross. Therefore, God has what? Highly exalted him. God has to manifest his authority. He said to Paul, my grace is sufficient. I will work through you.
I don't know if Paul knew all that God was doing. Wasn't Moses called one of the most meek men of the earth, but he came against the Pharaoh? Did Jesus ride in on a donkey? And didn't the apostles preach the gospel rather than revolt? Interesting, isn't it? Why? Because leadership, whether it's a parent or husband, pastors, employers, Christian leaders, it doesn't matter. Our authority should increasingly resemble what we're preaching right now, which is Christ's example.
Not loud, not demanding, not self-promoting, but what? Humble, gracious, and patient. Patient for God to work in it. Being patient is not backing off. Being patient is allowing God to work. Carnal authority demands submission. Spiritual authority inspires it. This was real interesting for me when it came to me to understand, to help me not to be afraid of the word authority, that there cannot be any subordination without the one who's in subordination doing it themselves.
And agreeing to it. Otherwise, it's manipulation. That's why the Bible says Jesus took up on himself. It was Jesus who initiated it in a home. We believe in the order of the home according to biblical headship. If you're married, see you Wednesday night, okay? We'll deal with this more. We're doing a marriage class.
But headship needs to be understood biblically, not worldly-wise. Because if the head of Christ is God, there's no manipulation there. No coercion there. There has to be an understanding of it differently than what we understand. Because to us, it's intimidation, it's fear, it's all of those things. But in the kingdom, it's not. So what does it that we need to know? Paul tells us in this passage, he tells us that authority is God's authority.
It's divine power. It's not ours. No one has inherent authority. Well, that's my authority. No, it's not. It was delegated to you. God, if he has all authority, then no one operates with inherent authority. You're in delegated authority.
Even on the job, it's been delegated to you, right? Everywhere, it's delegated. If I see it as mine, I'm going to fight you. I'm going to be upset. I'm going to compete against you. And I'm going to be harsh towards you. Because now you are challenging what? My authority.
But if I see it as God, I can be patient and walk before him that God is at work, listen, in a way that we've done before. I can be patient and walk before him that God is at work. I can be patient and walk before him that God is at work. never seen it. I want you to see this. Verse three to five, he says, though we walk in the flesh, we do not do what? Wage war according to the flesh. So Paul is acknowledging that we live as humans, right? We live in these bodies.
We appear like anyone else, but it's entirely different. Our struggle is different. The church does wage war, but not like we think. See, these false apostles that you're going to hear more about in the next couple of chapters, they were coming in the flesh as the world would against Paul. And they relied on their personality, their eloquence, their popularity, their image, their manipulation. They relied on that to say, we are somebody, but you, Paul, you, you're not demanding. So he relied on something totally different, and he called it his weapons. Now notice this.
Hear me now. Most of the time you've heard this verse quoted, the weapons of our warfare are mighty through God. The pulling down strongholds. In the name of Jesus, stronghold come down. Am I right? Is that what Paul's talking about? Do we have believer's authority? Yes, but that's not what that verse is.
How many has heard that verse used like that? Come on, be honest with me. Our weapons of our warfare are mighty through God. You know what he's talking about? He's talking about true spiritual authority under magic and everything in the culture, the gospel is the preeminence. Because here's how I know. Look what he says. What he says here, he says, notice what the strongholds actually are.
Verse five explains verse four. The strongholds are not cities. The strongholds are not governments. The strongholds are not demons, even though demons are involved. I believe there are principalities over cities and over nations. Okay, stay with me. I believe in that. But that's not how he addresses it.
He's not addressing it to go out and pray against that principality. What does he say? He said, this is what happened. The strongholds, it are arguments. Everybody say arguments. Strongholds is every lofty thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. So what was the problem in Corinth? The problem in Corinth is that the world had gotten into the church.
And he says in chapter 11, we're going to keep preaching till we preach the knees out from underneath them. If we understood the power of the gospel, the power of obedience, the power of what it means to embrace God's truth, then strongholds are dealt with. Yes, the principalities are over cities, but how many know that Jesus already has all authority and power over them? And the church is the instrument to live out his authority in the earth. Your family is to represent his authority in the earth. Parents and husbands and wives, do I believe in praying? You know I believe in praying. But if you pray against a principality and you don't walk in obedience, it's contrary.
You're going to see this in a minute. He says, when your obedience is complete, we'll punish all the other disobedience. There's something we'll talk about here in a minute called the corporate obedience. One obedient family can change generations. Spiritual warfare in Paul's deal, he's dealing with arguments. How many of those arguments in our culture right now? How do we fight arguments in our culture that are contrary to the word of God? How do we do that?
By preaching the truth, teaching the truth. I don't have to tell you how to vote. I don't have to tell you how to vote. If you want to, I'd be happy to tell you. But I can teach you to think biblically and every thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, don't partner with it. And no one in office is going to be anything but a sinner. Those sinners are voting for them. That's us too, by the way.
But you can look at situations based on what? Biblical truth and the gospel. And the further every nation gets away from biblical truth and the gospel. Here's how it says in Psalm 2. Any nation gets away from biblical truth and the gospel. Here's how it says in Psalm 2. Any nation that refuses to kiss the sun will perish from the earth. Don't think that's not true.
Though I cannot change America, I can change my home. I can teach for your homes to be changed. We can influence a community, right? But how? You're going to see this. But us, ourselves, he says this. The battlefield then is in the human mind, isn't it? The righteous is in the earth.
You're the light of the world. You're the ones. So any proud ideology, any lie that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, don't partner with it. Don't partner with it. Don't partner with it. Don't partner with it. Don't partner with it. Don't partner with it.
Don't I want to tell you right now, if you obey the scripture, you just walked in spiritual warfare. When you disobey the scripture, you who are righteous in the earth, that have the power to demonstrate before the principalities and powers. The Bible says that to the extent that the church manifests the very wisdom of God, manifold wisdom of God before what? Principalities of powers, might and dominion. What does it say? It says, the world and the enemies and angelic hosts is watching the church. Can we teach solid doctrine and the word of God to such a degree that people live it out? That's spiritual warfare.
Now you need to pray in the process of it, cry out to God on the process of it. But Paul went in those communities and he preached the gospel. One of the greatest things that your city and my city needs is a clear teaching of the gospel and people living out the gospel and continue. That's the power of the church. America would be transformed if the church lived out the gospel and preached the gospel. That would fight every ideology right now that's contrary to the word of God. Because what does it do? It exposes it.
It's God's battering ram. That's what truth is. It's discerning versus carnality. See, Paul's critics in verse 7 says, you're judging by appearance. That's what he said to them. That's exactly what the world does. Discernment evaluates spirituality. The world asks who has the biggest platform.
The world asks who's the strongest personality. The world asks who is the most impressive speaker. Paul didn't fit any of those. Yet he had spiritual authority. But God asks, are you ready for this? Who's faithful? Come on. How you live ordinary lives are huge.
I'm grieved sometimes what we've created in the body of Christ. To make people think that they're not spiritual, they don't matter. I'm not against mission organizations, but here's what I've seen. I've seen young people go off for two years on mission organizations and then backslide afterwards. Why? Because that's not real life. They're in devotions till noon every day. Then they go out on the street and they come back and they do some mission work, but that's not real life.
What do they have to do? They have to come home and get a job. Well, then if I didn't have a job, I'd be a real woman of God, a real man of God. Exception? I'd get married. Now we got to have babies. I wish I was in the ministry. That's what people think.
We've created this. That's not the New Testament at all. It's his bride in the earth. Every person sharing the gospel, making disciples, healing the brokenhearted, and serving one another with their gifts. The fourth thing every believer does is full-time ministry. Somebody says, my platform is to play NFL football. Well, what if you get an injury for life? You can't do the will of God.
No, that's your platform. That's not the will of God. That's the platform that allows you to do the will of God. Are you with me? If the will of God is for us to have CCS or DLC, then what if it doesn't work? No, the will of God is to train a generation in the fear and admonition of the Lord and equip the saints for the work of the ministry. You can do that without a CCS or DLC. You're the church.
Are you with me? I want you to see the reality that you want to be committed then to the heart of God and not, oh, these things are great tools. I'm not against any of the tools. Thank God for the tools. This building is a tool. Hallelujah. You're outside yesterday. This is a tool right now.
Come on, somebody. I'm grateful for the tools, but this is not the purpose of God. You're the purpose of God. Does that make sense? To discern what the Lord does. So God asks who's faithful. To see and understand spiritual authority requires spiritual discernment. Churches are tempted to borrow the world's methods, aren't we?
Only God's truth changes hearts. Let me know that. When I see a young person, a family, an individual struggling in the flesh, I'm going to go straighten them out because I think I could. I'm being facetious. But the answer is the word of God. The answer is a converted heart. The answer is to pray and intercede over them. The answer is to be patient for the authority of God, to get in their heart and change.
And when that starts to happen, you'll see it. No child of mine is not going to be a child of God. You're not going to be a child of God. You're not going to be a child of God. You're not going to be a Christian. Well, let the Holy Spirit convert them first. You can't disciple a non-Christian. How many of you can grow up in this environment and not be a Christian?
Barna Institute says 52% of all believers that attend a weekend service have never been able to point back to conversion in their life where they were transformed and changed. So there has to be the gospel clearly preached, doesn't it? There has to be an understanding of why. I'll tell you why this is important. Paul goes on to explain it. He talks about authority precedes obedience. It produces, actually, a corporate obedience. One person's obedience can affect somebody else's obedience.
Some of you are serving the Lord because somebody else served the Lord, right? Some of you are being faithful to God because you saw somebody else being faithful to God. You were inspired by it. And that's what Paul is addressing. He's writing to the Corinthians and he's saying, you've been misled by all these false apostles, but here's what he says. We are ready to punish every act of disobedience once your obedience is complete. That's a hard verse, isn't it? One of the most difficult verses.
He's not referring to unbelievers. Paul's already made that clear in other Corinthians. You'd have to pull yourself out of the world to get away from unbelievers. He's not talking about unbelievers in Corinth. He's talking about the church. He's talking about believers. He's a dealing and addressing. First, the church comes into obedience.
Your life comes into obedience. You have no idea how powerful obedience to Christ is in the spirit realm. This might help you. When you're disobedient, how many of you feel that? Some people go, I don't even know if I'm saved anymore. I've heard people say that. They feel the oppression of it, don't you? That's why when you're a young Christian, you go, I'm saved.
I'm not saved. I'm saved. I'm not saved. Because you don't know. You feel the power of darkness. And then even as a believer, you've served the Lord for a long time and walked in some freedom, walked in some maturity, and the flesh starts to slip back in. And you saw it way back there three weeks ago, three months ago, but you know, hey, I can handle this. That is the biggest mistake.
In the world. I know I've proven it. You can't handle it. Say, I can't. Oh, we're supposed to. I can't. No, you can't. He is the only one in you.
So when that, if you found yourself a believer for a long time and you went into those spells, like cold spells, you know, you were kind of giving into the flesh. Don't you feel a spiritual disconnect? That's spiritual warfare, isn't it? So as you come into obedience, because you love the Father, what happens? You start feeling it. By the way, can I tell you, spiritual growth is like a locomotive that's run by coal. It's not a Tesla. You could jump in a Tesla right now and hit it and takes off.
But your spiritual life is like a locomotive. It takes a lot of heat. You pour yourself in the word and prayer and you felt a little movement. Okay. All right. Got some movement. Got some movement. So we're going to quit reading the Bible and praying for a while.
And it takes a big amount of heart to get it going again. And we think, well, I don't know if I'm even right with God. You don't, you see what I'm talking about. I don't know if I'm wrong or not. Obedience is spiritual warfare. Any area of your life right now that you are saying no to the Spirit of God, you're losing that aspect of the power of spiritual authority. That's why we have to depend on the flesh when we are not right in our relationship before God and pretend something because there really is no spiritual authority. And you can convince other people.
You can convince yourself. You can convince anybody. That's where you are. But the fruit has to do with the spiritual stronghold or the spiritual victory. The church becomes God's instrument. This is huge. Let me tell you this. Obedience has a corporate impact.
It does matter how you live your life in relationship to the corporate body that you participate with. You may not have ever seen that. You might have seen that you and Jesus have your own thing going. But biblically, you were saved into the body of Christ. There's one Lord, one baptism, one body, one faith. Your spiritual life, say with me, affects people around you and you may not even be aware of. If you get people together that are in obedience, there is a power there that cannot be explained. They set aside purpose to be there. They come with expectation. They're not your typical, and then it's not talking about y'all, but it's not your typical Sunday morning attendance where, well, I guess it's Sunday, I'll go. With no expectation. If you walk together, you come together with the saints with no expectation, that's exactly what's going to happen. If I came and collected with the saints with no expectation, I wouldn't want to come unless you're a real good preacher, Glenn. I'm not coming. Unless that music is really good, I'm not coming.
How many of you follow me? Because we've not learned the corporateness of the body. But did you know we wouldn't even have to have singing? We wouldn't have to do anything if I understood the corporateness of the body. I'm warning y'all in advance because I don't know when this is going to be. I used to do this on my own before we had elders. I just make a decision on Sunday morning, freak people out. Now I have accountability.
Preach myself in a corner. But one of these days, I'd love to have this room full of round table. Came in on Sunday morning, go, where am I sitting? And you're going to sit with a body. Wouldn't that be beautiful? And teach on the Lord's table and sing around the table and pray around the table and connect the body of Christ. And let us see that the corporateness of the body matters. Paul said, when your obedience is fulfilled and complete, then we're going to take care of the rest.
How's he going to punish it? Because they're going to see the obedience of you. It's powerful, isn't it? He said, those who will hear my letter and obey, he said, that's what's going to happen. So when the church stands together in obedience, then there's something that God uses to deal with rebellion. I don't know how it happens. It's not mine. It's not my authority.
It's not yours. It's Christ. He works in his church. It reflects the kingdom. This is how the kingdom works. How many of you have prayed this prayer? Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. All right, we've all prayed that prayer.
And we say, yeah, that's right. We've got to get the kingdom on earth. Got to get the kingdom on earth. Got to get the kingdom on earth. It's on the earth in the church. So what does that mean? It means thy will be done, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. How is it in heaven?
No resistance, no disobedience, done immediately. Watch how you pray that prayer. Lord, I want your will done in me as it is in heaven. Immediately. Immediately. No resistance. Immediately. No resistance.
Immediately. Yeah, but God wouldn't want me to be unhappy. Stop it. When I've realized, wait a minute, it does matter how I live. Am I the only one who thinks it doesn't matter sometimes how I live? It matters huge how I live. It matters for children and grandchildren, doesn't it? It matters for generations.
It matters in your marriage. It matters in this house. It matters in this city. What if we had a congregation that was in such obedience? What if we had a body of Christ in this city that was in such obedience? What if we had a body of Christ in such obedience to the gospel and the word of God and lived it out? Do you know what that would do to Claremore? It would shake Claremore.
Go through church history. When worldly things were closed down, it's because the church did not go there. Revival broke out to where they would close down for two hours a day in New York City and Denver to pray from 12 to 2. No business could be open because so many thousands of people were going to prayer meetings from 12 to 2. Can you imagine what the church, just in obedience, that's what Paul is saying, that there's a corporate anointing. There's a place for the kingdom advances. Listen, when ordinary people, believers, obey extraordinary truth, his critic says, he doesn't speak well. He writes strong letters, but he's not very impressive because they were not seeing spiritual authority.
His authority was not built upon appearance. It rested on Christ alone. The church will not conquer by being more like the world. The church conquers by being more like Christ. Amen? And as the church submits itself to Christ's authority, it becomes his instrument in the earth. The greatest weapon that we possess is not political influence. It's not financial influence.
It's not cultural acceptance. It is the truth that Christ proclaimed by humble, obedient people filled by the power and the spirit of God. May God make us a church like that. Can you say amen? That fights the battles in the right way, spiritually. Here's what my call is going to be for us today. As I'm praying over this, this is what's on my heart. Where are you in relationship to your thought when it comes to authority?
Has the world robbed that from you by making that a four-letter word? That's a dirty thing. That's a terrible thing, authority, because I haven't seen it as God manifesting himself. If all the authority is given by God, then how can I see that? How can I see it as a protection? How can I see it as what God is doing? And also, I have to ask myself, where have I participated in what I called authority but wasn't authority? As a father, as a pastor, I've done that.
I saw it. The Lord really had to convict our heart because it's so easy. People respond to it, by the way, because we're not taught to discern spiritual authority. But here's my real question that's on my heart today. Where would my obedience help this house? Where would my obedience help this house? Where would my obedience help this house? Where would my obedience help this house?
You see, God talks to you about what he wants you in obedience. I know the Word, the Scripture, but you say, well, my prayer won't make a difference. If God's calling you to prayer, your obedience makes a huge difference. How you parent makes a huge difference. I'm going to invite you to stand with me around this room, and we're going to do a couple things. I want you right there before the Lord to ask yourself the question, Lord, do I embrace authority, spiritual authority? It's spiritual, not spiritual. Would you ask yourself that?
If you have resisted spiritual authority, if you resisted authority, would you just take a moment right there and just repent where you are? If you're joining us online, would you pause for just a moment, just before the Lord? That's it. Come on, right there, right where you are, just pause and say, Lord, I've not seen that. I've seen the world means of it, but I've not seen it as that. And even if that authority is out of line, Lord, where is your authority that I'm to discern? You see, if you don't discern authority, then you won't ever be able to discern it. And if you don't discern it, then you won't ever be able to appreciate it.
You'll just think it's man-made. You'll just think it's manipulation, coercion, and we should be drawn to the authority of God. The Holy Spirit, show me. Number two, I ask you to ask the Lord, Lord, where have I participated in carnal authority? Would you show me? If there's a way you've wanted to fight, you wanted to argue in man's way, I'm not saying you cannot speak truth. I'm not saying you cannot share truth. I'm not that at all.
If there came an intimidation effect, an accusation, a slander, whatever it might be, that is man's authority. Even in your home, in your family, in your marriage, and in your relationship, if the Holy Spirit shows you something, would you just take that to Him right now? Would you take that to Him right now? Holy Spirit, in this room, those watching online, will the Lord be done? The youngest to the oldest, we pray, Father. Then the last question is where would obedience? Affect others. Lord, where are you dealing with me that I've just said it doesn't matter how I live?
This is mine in secret. Nobody else will know. Where is it in your life that the Holy Spirit is saying obedience does matter? In your home, it matters for generations. It matters in this house. It matters where you belong corporately. I'm going to ask you to do something. I'm going to pray over this.
I want you to just cry out in your own heart. Father, I pray in the name of Jesus for your grace. Your anointing, your part, and your place in this room. From one side of the building to the other, don't let one of us walk out of here today without receiving the word that Paul wrote concerning the Corinthian church that's applicable to us. I pray, Father. I pray for every home, every marriage, where there's contention. I pray, Father, where the wife has not understood it and the husband's not understood it. I pray, Father, where parents have not understood it, youth have not understood it.
Lord, I pray for us as leaders where we've not understood it. Lord, we've not walked it out. Where that happens, that you'd show that to us, that we'd be patient in your work, allowing you to work. Lord, what about in our city? Lord, let your church come forth in your city in obedience to the gospel in such a way that's a bright light. Contrary, let them look at us and say they live totally different from us. Lord, may they see it by the power of the Holy Spirit. Let your light shine in a way that we can see it.
Lord, may they see it by the power of the Holy Spirit. Lord, we've never seen it before, I pray. If your spouse is there with you, would you join hands with your spouse? Would you pray over one another? We're in the midst of our weekly marriage. We got one more week this week on marriage, and our hearts are for the marriages. And if your spouse is there with you, there may be a need for you to go home and have some conversation. You may need to go home and say, Lord, and you say to your spouse, here's some things I want to own.
Either way, whatever side God is working on in this place. Lord, let nothing be lost, I ask you, Father. Holy one. Holy one. Holy one. Holy one. Holy one. Spirit of God.
Spirit of God. Spirit of God. Oh, Spirit of God. Spirit of God. Your word is truth. Oh, competition in your marriage. Competition at work. And I encourage you to release it and trust God.
Trust God. Oh, in the name of Jesus. Jesus. In the name of Jesus. It's a bird right now. I don't want to believe it. I don't want to believe it. I don't want to believe it.
I don't want to belabor it, but I do sense the burden of the Lord at this moment. Would you take this message to heart and take it home? Parents to children. Children to parents. Husbands to wives and wives to husbands. Members of the body of Christ. We as leaders. Lord, show us that we not miss what true spiritual authority is.
From way back, Jesus, when you walked on the earth, you said to your disciples, it's different among the nations than it is in the kingdom. May we see that today like never before. And forgive us. We're associating the one and the same. What we've missed has been huge. What we've lost has been huge. We ask you for clarity and insight in Jesus' name. If you agree with that, you may be seated.

Also, if you're giving by check, there should be an envelope right there in front of you in the seat back. And you can just fill that out. And as you leave this morning, just drop it in the bucket in the back of the auditorium. So grateful for those that are faithful in their giving to the Lord, just seeing the furtherance of the kingdom of God being established in the world. And it's such a blessing. But we are the church, not the building. Remind us so many times of things that we give into, but it's just pouring into the kingdom of God for what he is. And so we're going to continue to worship in the Lord.
And if you're giving to missions as well, you can just fill that out and put the amount in there. And if there's other things that you designated you would like to give to, that's there as well. So we're so grateful. Also, if you're a guest this morning for the first time, there will be a card there in front of you. And so God bless you for being with us this morning. So as you give, I'm going to pray and just be thankful for what God has done. So Lord, we just thank you for your blessings upon our lives. You're a good God, faithful to us, Lord. You're a provider, just as we sang this morning, Jehovah Jireh, our provider. Thank you, Lord, for everything that you are to us. Lord, we honor you today, Lord, in our giving. And so, Lord, take this offering, multiply it in your kingdom, Father, as only you can do.

Last Wednesday, we kicked off our marriage seminars for our Summers for Families. And this Wednesday, July 8th, we're going to be doing a couple of things. We're going to be doing a couple of things.
We're continuing with our second night of marriage. Whether you've been married for six months or 60 years, this is a great opportunity for you to invest in your relationship, grow together, and to be encouraged. We hope to see you there. If you're new to Destiny Life or just looking to get more connected, the Meet the Family dinner is tonight, 6 p.m. on the Owasso campus. This is a great chance to meet some of our pastors, hear more about our heart, and take your next step in getting connected.
