these women were surprised. They had no, they entered the tomb to find the body. And when they entered the tomb, they saw a young man. One of the gospels says there were two angels and they were brilliant. And one said at the head and one said at the foot, Mark just records the one on the right and calls him a young man. And it says that they saw and they were afraid. Why were they afraid? They went expecting the body. There was no expectation or no understanding. And now you know they had to have sensed or felt heaven's presence. You see, listen to me. When you're without understanding and you're in the presence of the Holy Spirit, it's awkward. Anybody ever been there? It's called conviction. It's called I feel uncomfortable. It's called I don't know what's going to happen. But more than that, they were fully aware that something different was here and they were afraid, it said, because they still had no understanding. You know what I mean? You see, what I need to be reminded of is that the resurrection itself is centrality to Christianity. Without the resurrection, there's no gospel. Without the resurrection, there's no salvation. Without the resurrection, there's no hope. I'm going to suggest to you, unless you see the resurrection for you, it's as if it never happened. Because it had already happened. By the time Jesus revealed himself to his disciples, they still didn't believe. Luke says he had to open their understanding. This is not by us. It's by the Holy Spirit. If today something clicks, if today something comes on in your heart, in your mind, you go, whoa, wait a minute, it's for me? Understand, that's a supernatural moment. That's not me. That's the Holy Spirit taking advantage of this time on celebrating the resurrection to make it personal and make it home. Because it is central as a historical event. But listen, it's not just a historical event. It is a personal, real event. You've got people today. In fact, the gospel said that others knew of this. And even Rome itself said, pay the guards some good money and tell them that Jesus' body was stolen. And in the writing of the gospels, it said, even until this day, some Jews still believe that. There are atheists and agnostics that still believe that today. There are Muslims that still believe that today. There are Jews that still believe that today. It had taken effect against the evidence. And there was clear evidence. Why? Number one. It was an empty tomb. And everybody knew about it. How did we know about it? You remember when the two disciples in Luke chapter 24 are walking along and Jesus approaches them and starts talking to them. And what do they say? Are you the only one in Jerusalem who hasn't heard? That means all of Jerusalem had heard about this. Pilate knew about it. That's why he sent the guards. The high priest knew about it. The guards that felt like dead. When the angels showed up, they knew about it. All of Jerusalem knew about it. And the tomb was empty. Anybody could go, see, this wasn't hidden away. This was evidence, an empty tomb. Both friends and enemies knew it. Right there in Jerusalem, where anybody could check it out. The evidence were eyewitnesses. They saw it. They experienced it. Not just these women that came. Did you know a woman's testimony was not reliable in that century in which they lived? Did you know that? Did you know that? And if you were trying to be, if you were trying to be deceptive and this was not true, you would not have recorded that the first ones to bring the report would have been women. That tells you that God is not afraid of communicating the truth. And that was the evidence. And Paul writes in 1 Corinthians chapter 15, when talking about the resurrection, that Peter saw Jesus. The 12 saw Jesus. Over 500 believers at one time. These are all eyewitnesses. And many of them were living during that time that Paul says, you can go talk to them. James and all the apostles. And then Paul says even himself. So there was evidence of this resurrection as a testimony. Now, why is that important? Because you can know something without knowing something. You can say, yes, it's Easter resurrected celebration, but not have full expectation or understanding in revelation. Here's what I'm going to suggest to you. That there is a shift that comes. It's by the Holy Spirit that causes your eyes to open. I've been praying now for a number of years. God, give me a deeper understanding of the gospel. Give me a deeper understanding of your death on the cross. Give me a deeper understanding of your resurrection because everything is in that. For the gospel is the power of God and the salvation to those who believe to the Jew first, and also to the Gentiles or the Greek for in it, the righteousness of God is revealed. I want you to hear that today. What do we mean in it? The righteousness of God is revealed. Stay with me because once that comes to you, once you understand it, there is a full expectation because it comes with revelation, not just knowing it, but the revelation of it. Christ desires to reveal himself to you as the resurrected Lord. That's why he even sent the angel as a messenger to say to him, this one whom you seek, Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. Look, he's risen. He's not here. Look where they actually had him laid. Here's where he is and his grave clothes. One of the gospel says was neatly folded. I would have never thought of that. I've been wanting to get out of there and just throw off the grave clothes. Some of y'all would have left them there too. Who folded those? Did the angel do that? Did Jesus do that? What's the significance of it? Significance is there's order in the kingdom and this was already predetermined before the foundation of the world that he would be raised. This was no surprise. Even the planning of folding it and leaving it. Wow. A full expectation. Then listen, can you imagine? Here's what the angel said. And this is the crux of whole Mark. All of Mark 16 is in this one crux right here for me. He said, go tell the disciples and Peter. Go tell the disciples. Why? And Peter, because I believe Peter had just lived three days as if he was in hell. Think about it. Peter wasn't even among this group of the disciples until later. The last time he saw Jesus was after he had denied him three times. The night of the Last Supper. He told Jesus, I'll die for you. And Jesus said before the rooster crows in the morning, you're going to deny me. Three times. Peter couldn't imagine. He said, no way Lord. I'll die for you. He wasn't at the crucifixion. Last time he saw Jesus was in the trial of betrayal. And after he tried to warm himself by their fire, there was another disciple in the courtyard. Probably John. He wasn't tempted like this, but Peter wanted to identify with the world. So he went over to their fire and he tried to warm themselves by their fire. And it's in that position. Where he was accused, you're with him. And he said, no, I'm not. And after the third time, the scripture said, he swore and said, I never knew him. As soon as he did, the scripture said he turned and he saw Jesus. Can you imagine your eyes after denying Jesus, seeing him, your whole world would come to an end. He probably felt like Judas. Judas went out and hanged himself. Some of you know how Peter felt because when you're caught, in your condition, Peter probably thought I'll never have a chance to make it right. I'll never be able to settle this. I'll have to take this to my grave. I can't imagine the weight. I can't imagine the guilt and all of us have done that. Oh, you may not have denied Jesus like Peter did, but when we live our life apart from God, isn't that the same thing as denying what he did on this Sunday? There are people who, no doubt, feel exactly what Peter felt. There's no hope for me. I've gone too far. I've messed up too much. And Peter did not have a chance to make it right. That's why heaven had a conversation. The Father and the Son had discussed Peter. The angels had heard in heaven, go tell the disciples and single out Peter. We're all Peter. We all need to know it's personally for us. Not just for these folks, but for you until the revelation of the cross and of the resurrection becomes that for you. It's just another Easter story. Can you imagine Peter? Oh, Mary Magdalene in another gospel said, she went there first and got there first. And then she left and what did she do? She went and told Peter. I guess she and Peter had a understanding. Where had been Peter? Where was Peter? He's gone. We haven't seen him since the night of the, the last supper. Where is he? Check. He's not around. He wasn't at the, at the crucifixion. And we don't know where he is. He's not with the disciples at that time. And guess what? She went to tell him. Hey, the angel said, go tell the disciples and Peter. He wanted me to particularly tell you that he rose from the dead. Can you imagine all the weight? There's still hope. There's still hope. There's somebody here this morning need to hear. There's still hope. I don't care where you've been. There's still hope. I can't imagine what Peter, the Bible said, Jesus appeared to Peter. Oh, I would love to watch that because Peter represents us, doesn't he? And Jesus went out of his way, not just appear to 5,000, not just to go to those disciples, but to go to Peter alone. Where was Peter? Was he still hiding out? Maybe, maybe he just heard from Mary that he was singled out and mercy. And that heaven had had a conversation that included his name. And he had a little bit of hope. And now here's Jesus all of a sudden, bam, his resurrected body. He just shows up. Can you imagine what Peter would have done? Worship, cry, weep, rejoice. And you know, Jesus would have embraced him in the arms of forgiveness. That's the personal resurrection. That's when the cross and the resurrection becomes real. It becomes personally for you. Those two words and Peter, I'm asking you to do something today. I'm asking you to put your name in that slot. I'm asking you to say, yes, there's others. And then there's me. And I'm asking you to say, Holy Spirit. I have to have revelation of this because you see everything is based on the empty tomb. And everything is based on the resurrection of Christ. Everything is on that. Even back from the very beginning, when God's plan was to pull Abraham out of the Ur of Chaldees, a modern Iraq in that time. Imagine with me God's plan was already working and he was revealing. What's this? The crucifixion and the resurrection to Abraham. How do I know that? Because the scriptures, Jesus said, Abraham saw my day and rejoiced. How could he rejoice unless he saw the resurrection? We know he saw the resurrection because Galatians says the gospel was. Preach to Abraham. What's the gospel? It's the death. It's the burial and it's the resurrection. How do you think Abraham was even able to offer up Isaac? You say that's terrible that God would ask Abraham to take his own son up on the hillside up on the Mount and offer him as a sacrifice. How could God do that? The only way that that would have happened was to reveal what I'm telling you today the resurrection. Because Abraham said as he was going up to the Mount. I and the son I and the lad some translation says are going to go up to worship, but we will return. How could he say we're going to return? Hebrews tells us he prefigured that God would raise his son from the dead. Where did he get that idea? Because he had saw the day of the Lord and the gospel and everything. Everything sets up on the resurrection. It sets up on a revelation for you to know it's for you. It has no good for the world to believe around the world. But what about you is your confidence only in what Christ did if it's in one these days, I'm going to be sure God will forgive me because surely I haven't done what some people have done. That's no good. That's not the gospel. If you would say if I could live right, be a nice person go to church give in the offerings. Maybe God would forgive me that is not the gospel. If that's in your thought you haven't heard and understood the resurrection. You've heard about it. If you have any emphasis listen to me of any dependency whatsoever on anything other than what Jesus did is your only hope to avoid eternal hell. For eternal life in Christ anything else outside of Jesus. You were offered up for my sin anything other than that. You haven't heard and as we started the message off to say it was not just the fact that Jesus was offered up for our transgressions. That's good enough, but it's not good enough. It's one thing for you to know Travis that your sins are completely forgiven. I watched you worship you worship like you thought your sins were forgiven. Do you believe your sins are forgiven? You believe you're fully accepted by God fully loved by God. It's good to know your sins are forgiven, but there's more he was offered at the cross for the forgiveness of sins, but raised just as if I never sin come on. That's too good to be true. Isn't it? If you have your confidence in Christ, you sit there not only forgiven but like you never sin. If you believe in Jesus, in the resurrection, there are people that are religious that believe that Jesus historically lived historically died and historically rose from the dead, but they do not have the confidence or Revelation of the resurrection. That's for Liam. No wonder the emphasis is so much with the Apostles and the disciples that God had to open their understanding Jesus standing there with them telling them. Look, look, look, and it said they still did not understand until he opened their understanding. Anybody in this room. Have your understanding opened my wife, Amy. Why are you serving Jesus? He opened your understanding here. Her story 15 years old knew nothing. Her Baptist friends used to talk about getting saved. She's thinking saved from what had no idea had no idea. But one day her eyes were open and in a moment in a moment in a moment. All of a sudden God used a funeral Pastor Keith Wiginton here at First Baptist. It was his father pastoring in Altus, Oklahoma when Amy attended the funeral of a young man who had been accidentally killed while cleaning his gun and the whole high school showed up and to Pastor Wiginton. Does that right Wiginton? Do he said it that all one day we'll all stand before God and give an account. Amy said it was like arrows that came out of his mouth and pierced her heart. What was that? Somebody help me. It was a realization of the conviction of the Holy Spirit. And the next thing is God if you're real when she ran back to her home in our bedroom. God if you're real would you show me she knew Jean Jean Parks. Now Jean Williams was a real person who'd been changed because all the girls she ran around with that went to church act just like her getting real quiet because you can know it and not know it. I said you can know it. But not know it. Not have understanding my prayer for us today is that not one person would walk out of here today except they know it but it's going to take the Holy Spirit to reveal it to you. So I want to do something. Here's my call. I want you to put your name in this blank. Go tell the disciples and put your name in and put your name in. Would you do that? Because it has to be personally has to be personal for you. I want you to bow your heads where you are. I'm going to pray over this house while you put your name in there. If you have a revelation of the cross and the resurrection you'll sense the presence of the Holy Spirit. If it's not come personally not that you don't know but takes the Holy Spirit to reveal. If you're distracted with your thoughts somewhere else rather than the cross of the resurrection. I pray now. That the Holy Spirit would bring that and arrange a moment of time while you're there before him. I want to ask you something. I'm about to pray before I pray. We're going to pray and we're also have opportunity for people to come for prayer for healing and for what they're walking through because I'm just thinking here on Easter Sunday morning. It's too easy just to walk in and and walk out and we've intentionally allowed time today in order for us to be real and be family. You've come together with your family as family and yet I know there are people here today that really want prayer and desire prayer. Well there's also those who are here today that probably are getting awareness. Have I ever known this resurrection was for me and you say Glenn I want you to to pray for me because I tell you what I've not had an understanding of that. I've always thought that someday somehow God would forgive me but it's not become a reality. Like I know you're talking to me. You're talking about would you pray for me if that's you while others are praying. Would you just lift your hand up and down right there where you are and you say I need that revelation today across this building. Say yes. Yes. That's me. That's me. That's me. Thank you. That's me. That's me. Who else just say that's me raise your hand and say I'm getting an understanding. Thank you. You want to nod at me. That's okay. You'll look up and nod. That's okay too. But I want to say to you. This is a moment. That is a holy solemn moment. This is not coming from Glenn. This is the moment of the Holy Spirit saying this is your reality to really get a revelation because I'm going to lead us all in the prayer of God to show us as Paul would say I plead with you that you be reconciled to Christ because he's made that provision anyone else before we pray collectively just say yes. Here's what I'm going to do. I want to lead this house in a corporate prayer for understanding of the resurrection and if you are already to some degree on that and your confidence and that your sins are forgiven. I want you to put your trust in that also put your trust in the resurrection meaning that you're just as if you never sinned. That's an unbelievable thought. Pray this prayer with me. Say Heavenly Father. I am grateful. So grateful for your son Jesus that he went to the cross and was offered up for me. For my sin. He took it. Thank you Jesus. But Father you raised him from the dead for my justification. So it would be just as if I never sinned. Lord I accept that good news. Now while others are praying I'm going to ask you to pray for a revelation of the cross and of the resurrection today. Cry out to him right there where you are. Cry out to him right there where you are. In our 9 a.m. I saw people's lives being shifted and changed. No doubt here in this 11 a.m. the same thing. Is happening. Because it's a moment. Eternal things are at work. Eternal things are at work. By your grace. Father we thank you. We thank you. I'm going to invite everyone in the building to stand together. And I'm going to ask our pastors and prayer teams to come. The reason we're doing this today. We do it regularly. But the reason we're doing this today. Not only do we do this regularly. But I want on an Easter Sunday morning for us to be right at home and be our family. And I want those of you that you came today. You said my family needs prayer. I need prayer. It might not even be anything I preached on. Might not even be anything I covered. But you said man. I don't want to leave today without prayer. I'm going to ask you to slip out and head in this direction. I'm going to be praying over everyone in just a moment. But I want you to come immediately and say yes. Would you pray for me? If you're walking through something. You're in a time right now. That you need the hand of the Lord. Leading you. You need something in your life. Or even the Holy Spirit is working today in a way I don't know anything about. Let's respond to the Holy Spirit. Father I pray over this house. That your will be done. Your purposes be accomplished. That not one person walk out of this place today. Except they receive everything that you have in store for them. In Jesus name I pray. Now you just come. Come as you want prayer. Come as you need prayer. Come as you desire prayer. We're here to take the moment. I don't want to be in a hurry. We purposely allow time for personal ministry today. If you're with your family. Why don't you join hands with them and pray while others are coming. If you want to bring your family. You just while you're joining hands. Just bring them as a family. If you want to come as individuals. You come as individuals. Whatever God is doing. Let's obey him. Can we do that? Right there. If your family's with you. Pray together. This is Easter. Resurrection. Celebration Sunday. And what better way for families. Pray over the generations. Pray for the revelation that we've just preached. That the Holy Spirit would make it clear in hearts and lives today. Not just an Easter. But a revelation of what it means that Christ rose from the dead for you. He died on your behalf. And he rose again. Lord I ask you today for full grace. Full anointing. Full understanding. To be made known in this house. Your hand mightily Lord today. That's it church. Would you just pray there where you are. Just pray in your heart. Use this as a time. Don't let your mind be distracted. Of where you're going to go. What you're going to do. Take this moment right now. Just in the presence of the Holy Spirit. Praying over your loved ones. Praying over your family. Praying over each other. Father that's my prayer today. What all are you doing Holy Spirit? Those who were distracted. During the message Lord. Those who were distracted during their week Lord. Those who were distracted. Even right now Holy Spirit you have a way. Of causing those ladies to look up. And see that the stone has rolled away. All hindrances are gone. Let that be so right now. In the power of the Holy Spirit. All hindrances gone. Let the resurrection be so powerful this week. That it be stronger this week than it was leading up to this Sunday. Be stronger than ever before. Stronger than any time. By the power of your hand oh God. While others are being prayed for. Would you just be in prayer for them? If you see somebody being prayed for. That's in your family or your loved one. Just pray for them right there under your breath where you are. If you've got your heart set on someone next to you to pray with you. You all join hands to pray. This is a solemn moment in the presence of Almighty God. Moment in the presence of Almighty God. In the name of Jesus. This is special. Thank you for your obedience. If you raised your hand today. You're not for certain where your relationship was. We're committed to walk out with you. We have what's called Christianity 101. We believe in making disciples. I believe that when you come to Christ. You're fully forgiven. I believe that he raised from the dead for your justification. Just as if you never sinned. He gives us his righteousness. But at the same time we grow spiritually. You need others in your life. You need those around you to grow. And we'll make that available to you. Want that to be offered to you. In the name of Jesus. While others are continue to prayer. If you're finished praying. You may be seated for just a moment. We're not in a hurry. We'll take time here in just a second. To give you a chance to worship while you're doing that. Let me just simply say it will be in the announcements today. But I want to invite you back for June the 7th on a special Sunday. For years now since 2014. And when I read the book. Of the two ladies who spent nearly 300 days. In prison in the nation of Iran. I was moved to depth. Of their focus. If you've not read that book. I encourage you to get the book called Captive in Iran. We reached out to them. Maybe eight years ago. If they would come and speak. And they said they were not able to at the time. They were entering into law school. We reached out. In the earlier part of this year. And one of them who's not married said she'd be able to come. And worked out she was not able to because of surgery. But we've rescheduled her for June the 7th on a Sunday morning. I want to invite you to bring your friends. With all that's in the news. You need to hear that in the nation of Iran. The church is growing faster than ever before. We believe the doors are going to be open to the gospel in Iran. We believe that Bibles and believers are going to flood into Iran. Somebody. I believe that God is at work in the nations. Do not be despondent. His church. Is alive and well. Give him glory. On this Sunday morning. And their time zone. Far ahead of us. Believers in their homes in Iran. They estimate as high as 5 million believers in the nation of Iran. God is showing himself powerful. In nations where we would not even know anything about. I'm glad that you're here this morning. But I want us to be praying for others. Amen. God bless you as you transition. If you want further prayer. We'll continue to make ourselves available. We're not in any hurry for that. God bless you. I was reminded that when I was four years old. I went into my parents bedroom. And I said I want to ask Jesus into my heart. And I did. But even this morning. As Glenn has preached about the resurrection. That I'm not just forgiven. But it's just as if I had never sinned. I remember and I can recall. And I'm sure that you can as well. Everything. That you have done. That was sin. And it's good to be forgiven. Even more. It's like I never did it. Chris. It's like I never did it. It's gone. That's the power of the resurrection. The power of the resurrection. And we celebrate it on Easter Sunday. But it's real. As they say 24-7. 365. Amen. Hallelujah. Thank you Glenn for sharing the gospel this morning. That we're free and delivered. We want to continue to worship the Lord with our giving. And this is for regulars here at DLC. We worship the Lord with our giving. Because with our monies. With our giving. We're saying to God. Thank you for blessing. Thank you for giving to me the strength. Giving to me the wisdom. The ability to labor with my hands. And we realize that it is God. Who has given us the power. Or the authority. To get wealth. Or to be. Have it added to us. And so. We give the opportunity to worship the Lord with our giving. You can give by text. In our smart giving. Or you can do as my wife and I do. We have a check. And we use an envelope. And some would use cash. And just put it in there. And there's an offering container. As you leave the auditorium. That you can put it in there. But do it as worship and honor. Unto the Lord. Giving thanks to him. Let me pray for you. Lord I thank you for your people. Who have honored you. Who have come this morning. They've honored you with their lips. And with their heart. Giving you glory and honor and praise. But we also do so with our finances. As you told us to do so. Thank you. That you have blessed us. I pray for those who have jobs. Cause them there to be an increase. I pray for those who need jobs. I pray that you would bless them. Bring them to the right ones. For labor and employment. I thank you for it. And I speak your blessings upon your people. That you open up the windows of heaven. On them. I thank you for it. In Jesus name. Amen. As you worship the Lord with your giving.
