Building a Holy Structure from Unholy Materials

Fight, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, come on, for just a second, can you give him a shout of praise, just for a second, amen, it's good to see you, good to see you this morning, man, I'm always reminded, it is so difficult sometimes on Sundays, I don't know about you, but if you've had a weekend where you've just been kind of chilling, or it's been super busy, there's still this temptation in my mind, even as a leader here in the church, it's like, I could do something else with this Sunday, if it was mine to do something, but when we gather together, something unique about the presence of Jesus, he says, where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them, and I'm so glad that you decided, that I decided to get out of bed, to come here this morning, so that we could worship Christ together, amen, so we're glad to see you here, right in front of you, usually there's a tap disc, if you want to connect with me, you can do that, if you want to connect with me, you can do that, if you want to connect with us, if you want to let us know a prayer request, you've got a move to make, or digital wise, or the ones in the back are for you, so if you've got a decision to make today, or you need prayer, you need us to help you in ministry somehow, we would love to do that, you can absolutely 100% do that, and you can do that through the tap disc in front of you, you can do that on the physical card, we're about to move into the rest of our time in worship, and singing, and song, but before we do that, we're going to say a worship liturgy, and as we're into the next couple of songs, you may have a need this morning, and you may have a need this morning, it might be something going on in your life, just even in singing that song, I'm reminded of so many things this week, where I honestly, maybe the resurrection power of Jesus just wasn't really a thought in my mind, maybe I'm just kind of still living dead things in my brain, living dead things in my life, and maybe you need a time to repent, maybe you need a time to confess, and we're going to have some leaders on the sides here, as we go into the next two songs, if you need prayer, probably the most underused asset that the church has, especially praying with another believer, if you need help, if you need encouragement, if you need strength, this time really is for you, okay, and so as we go into these next two songs, make yourself available to that, we say this worship liturgy together, if it's your first time with us, the reason we say liturgies throughout the service, is to kind of bring us together on a thought, or an idea that shapes us, as we say these things, they're not just a special incantation over the service, it's not some kind of thing that we just say it as a, I don't know, something that is ritualistic, it's a way of confessing something that we hope to become, so as we say this worship liturgy together, I want you to think about the words that you're saying, really preparing your heart for the rest of our service together, and really your life as a worshipper, so the worship liturgy is going to be on the screen, if you will, say this along with me, Holy Father, you have called us as priests to minister before you, we are not here to consume, but to give our praise, our thanks, our devotion, you are worthy of all honor, not just in word, but in the posture of our hearts, to come before you casually, seeking only what we can receive, is to forget why we are here, but worship is the purpose of those you have redeemed, a people set apart, offering the sacrifice of praise, lifting high the name of the one who was, who is, and who is to come, we are here because you alone are God, it is the joy of your people to gather in your presence, to declare your greatness, and to glorify your name in all the earth, amen.

Let it bear fruit that can be seen by others, that attracts others to you, that as others that may not know you or as we fall short, Father, that we would be attracted to you. Let it bear fruit that can be seen by others, that attracts others to you, that as others that may not know you or as we fall short, us of the sacrifice that you've made, that we can even spend this time together, Father, and be uplifted, be encouraged. There's so many big groups of people that we can go and be around and not be lifted up and encouraged, but when we are gathered in your name, the body is joined together, you can dwell in that place, and we can lift each other up and point each other toward you as we allow your spirit to work in us. Father, we thank you. We love you. We praise you, and it's in your holy name we pray. Amen.

All right, you may be seated as we continue our worship through giving. Just thankful for, as I was just praying, but just that constant revelation, even in our giving, that we can come in here, that we as sinful creatures in our flesh, we go through these ebbs and flows sometimes, where sometimes it may be easy to come in here and talk about giving and tithing, and sometimes it's a much more difficult conversation, but the Lord can constantly give us that fresh revelation and give us and allow us to see the fruit that we're seeing here at Move Church around the world. We're seeing fruit in our community and the lives of people in here, but even around the world, that God is showing that he can do abundantly more with something that we hold so tightly to, and that's why we say this liturgy each and every week. I know sometimes it can seem monotonous, and sometimes you're just going through the motions, but it's so that it's written on our heart that when it is one of those weeks where it is more difficult to give, where it is more difficult to tithe, that these words are written on our heart. These are based off of Scripture, and so it's written on our heart. So when we say this, say it in a manner that brings it up and reminds us to you, not for when it's easy to give and easy to tithe, but for those weeks where it may be more difficult. So if you will say this with me, Holy Father, there is nothing I have that you have not given me. All I have and am belongs to you, bought with the blood of Jesus. To spend everything on myself and to give without sacrifice is the way of the world that you cannot abide. But generosity is the way of those who call Christ their Lord, who love him with free hearts and serve him with renewed minds, who withstand the delusion of riches that chokes the word, whose hearts are in your kingdom and not in the systems of the world. I am determined to increase. I am determined to increase in generosity until it can be said that there is no needy person among us. I am determined to be trustworthy with such a little thing as money that you may trust me with true riches. Above all, I am determined to be generous because you, Father, are generous. It is the delight of your daughters and sons to share your traits and to show what you are like to all the world. Amen.

All right, real quick, something we do every year. I want to call Kayla up. And if we can have... Joshua, Bentley, Posey come up, and Charles and Crystal as well. Each year, we take a moment to really recognize our seniors, or in this case, senior, that is graduating and moving out of the youth and into adulthood, culturally speaking. And so, wherever, there's no right or wrong place to stand. So, Kayla and I just wanted to take a moment to really... recognize Joshua, and then also just kind of pray over him. And just as we say, the sending liturgy at the end of each week, we want these youth, as they grow up into this cultural kind of send-off, as stepping into adulthood, that everything that he has done thus far in your life has equipped you and prepared you for this next season. And so, when we do this, I ask a few questions. To each of our students, I'm always interested to see their answers. So, I'll read some of Joshua's. First of all, I always ask their name. It's like, well, you've known me for years. Why do you ask my name? Because a few times, I've been surprised and actually learned people's names that I had no idea existed. You know, but now we all know Bentley is his middle name. So, you can use that. Joshua was homeschooled. I said, what was your most memorable or proudest achievement during your school years? He said, his most memorable was math. Math and history, which were his favorite subjects. I said, what are your future plans and goals? He said, I'm going to send the most chicken until I figure it out. So, it's a rite of passage in the Fonzie household. So, I asked him, what are you most grateful for as you look back on your school journey? And he simply said, his mother. So, Chris, you did a good job there. He said, who is a significant influence or role model? And how have they impacted your life? And he said, my dad, because he taught me to serve people well. And he said, if you could create a new school subject, what would it be and why? And he said, magic, the gathering, and Adam Sanford rejoiced. Okay.

All right. So, Josh, as I was saying, you know, and we've talked about this. But truly, you know, we've seen so much come from you and your ability to encourage others. You know, I've talked to you about how you can walk. You know, you can walk into a room and light people up, put a smile on people's faces. I simply get a smile on my face just watching you in your competitive nature. Yeah. You know, one of the most competitive people I know. But for real, God has instilled so many gifts and abilities in you. And we've already seen that flesh out in our young guys in the youth group and in our youth group as a whole and even in my life. And so, I just want to encourage you as you go into this next season of life where we talked a little bit about earlier. There's lots of clouds. There's lots of clouds and fog and all these things, you know, this unknown and this fear that can creep in. But God has equipped you and prepared you for everything that's coming your way. Okay. There's nothing that will be within your path that is within his will that you have not been equipped and prepared for. Okay. So, Kayla's going to pray over you because y'all have heard me speak enough. So, let's. Y'all can extend hands and pray with us as well. Get behind the mountain of man.

All right. Father, thank you so much for Josh. Thank you for the blessing that he has given me. He has been. Yes. Lord, we all have our days and our moments, Lord. But nine times out of ten, Josh just has a smile on his face. Thank you for the blessing that he has been to us as leaders. Father, there's been so many times that he has raised his hand first or been the only one to raise his hand to go before others, Lord. And that's just so encouraging to us, Lord. Thank you for his place in his family. Thank you for blessing his family with him and who you have created him to be. For blessing them with the opportunity to lead and guide him in the way that you would have him go, Lord. Father, I just pray that you continue to use him for your glory. I pray that you continue to instill that leadership in him, Father, that only comes from you. Lord, I pray that you continue to grow his knowledge, his revelation of you. Lord, things that Charles and Crystal could not instill in him but only comes from your Holy Spirit. And then they benefit from that in him, Lord, that we as a body benefit from him. Things that only come from you, Lord. As he continues to step out into the world, Lord, I just pray protection. I pray wisdom, knowledge, Lord, discernment. I pray the whisper of your Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is just so much louder than anything that the world tries to shout at him, Lord. Father, I just pray over Charles and Crystal. They have gone through this transition before multiple times, Lord. But each time is so different. And it's a new kind of hard. And Father, I just pray wisdom, discernment, the whisper of your Holy Spirit to be loud to them, Lord. Over any type of grip of control that the enemy may try to use in them over Josh. Out of fear. Out of fear or not knowing what's to come, Lord. I just pray that they release and surrender to you as they continue to parent him. They will always be parents. And they will always be chosen by you in that position, Lord. So let them lean more on you. It is not a time to just step back but to lean more on you, Father. Lord, we love you. We honor you. We're so thankful for this family. We're so thankful for Josh and who you have created him to be. Thank you for the gift that he is to all of us and to the world around him. In Jesus' name, amen. Awesome. Before we get started, I wanted to make note of something. This is just a resource. One of the things I think we were trying to do this year is make sure that the church is as resourced. You have as many tools as possible. You have as many resources as possible to further your devotion to Christ. We're doing things constantly. It seems like every season we're trying to push something out. I heard comments from some people at one point about another book. These are not assignments. These are resources. You don't have to do them. You're not getting a grade at the end of the year or anything like that. These resources exist because we know it's difficult, especially in the time you have access more than any other generation. You can listen to any pastor, any church, get any resource like that. You can download it, depending on your internet speed, within a minute. In-house, we develop resources from time to time. Tomorrow is starting a 30-day kind of thing. We're calling it First Five. These are printed. Am I right that these are on the table out there? Oh, they're going to pass them out. The impression team will have them as you're leaving. Perfect. This is probably the... The easiest thing you'll ever do in your entire life, okay? It's First Five because it's a hope to cultivate your morning time with the Lord. I'm going to be strict about this maybe until the Lord changes me, but I think starting your morning with God is one of the most important things you can do. I know I got people in here that are like, I'm not a morning person. You don't have to be a morning person to have morning devotion with God, okay? That's just a discipleship thing. But this... Basically, it's 30 days of Scripture. One Scripture, basically a day that you'll take five minutes. One minute to read it, one minute to write it, one minute to memorize it, one minute to pray it, and one minute to thank God for what you see in it. That's pretty easy. And if some of you struggle with your morning time with God, here is a step. Here is a move. We're Move Church for a reason. I don't like measuring movement. If you need to move forward and you need something like this and you're sitting there feeling condemned because you're like, I've been doing this for fifteen years and I still don't have a good grasp on it, grab this, get some help, walk through it. I think it would be really, really good for the church. We start it tomorrow. I think it would be great to do it as a church. You can grab those on your way out, alright?

We're going to finish up a series today. Ephesians chapter 2 is where we're going to be. So if you've got a Bible, really encourage all of us. I'm not going to be legalistic and say that you have to have a paper Bible, but have a way to be in the Scripture. The Scripture is with us when we're reading it together as a church. Screens are fine. We've got this technology. If you need to pull it up on your phone, that's fine. The Scripture is actually in the notes today. It usually is in the notes, so you can look at it there. If you have the Bible app, you can open it there. But if you have a Bible, bring it to the service. I remember in Youth Group one time we had a bring your Bible challenge, Matt, because I realized that bringing your Bible to a service was actually a dying thing. People just weren't bringing their Bible anymore. I'm not going to be legalistic and say that you can't read it off the screen. I'm just saying, man, grab your Bible and bring it with you to service. I think something to me personally, something tactile about the paper is good for me. That's why I like physical books and not reading off like a Kindle and stuff. But bring your Bible. We're going to close up this series called "Run It Back." This is really a setup message. If you've ever watched a volleyball game, I think about this a lot in the Scriptures. A lot of times when we're talking about things where maybe a writer in the Scriptures is concerned, they write something that is a lot like a set person. In volleyball, where they may be near the net, the ball is coming to them. They aren't trying to get the ball over the net. They're trying to set the ball so that another player can come and literally hammer that ball as hard as possible over the net. And that's what I feel like today is. Today is a set message for a series we're going to start when we come back to services after the 1st of June. So next week, I'll make sure this is in our announcements at the end, but we won't be meeting next week. Many of us will be. We're going to be in Oklahoma for ATI, and we ask that you would join us online and watch that service. There is a guest from Iran who was captured in Iran. It's going to be a really cool story. You should definitely check that out if you're going to be at home. But when we come back from that, we're going to start a series going into Ephesians 3. We're walking through the book of Ephesians. And the whole series, I'll go ahead and give you a series. The series is called Ta-Da, because we're talking about the mystery of the Gospel. And Paul makes it very clear. I'm going to go ahead and give it to you. You're like, well, why would I show up? I don't know. Maybe to hear it a little bit further detail. But the point of the series, or the point of Ephesians 3, the beginning part, is Paul is telling us what the mystery of the Gospel is. And here it is, in case you were wondering. The mystery of the Gospel is that God makes a people out of strangers and foreigners. God makes a people who shouldn't be together. Come together for a purpose of glorifying Him. And you may think that your company has a good mission statement. You may think United Way is just absolutely killing it. You may think that Red Cross is absolutely crushing it when it comes to uniting people around a cause. But let me tell you something. There is no people group. There is no organization that can touch what God has been building in the church. And I don't know that our church doesn't need this because I don't know many people who care that much about the church. They care about maybe you should go to church, that you should come to church, that you should be connected to a church. I don't know a lot of people that know a lot about the fact that God says the mystery of the Gospel is not that you would be saved. That's not the mystery. The mystery is that God would save all these different people and then make a people. That you're not just an individual. But that you're a part of His eternal purpose, the church. And so this particular message is kind of a setup for that. Hopefully, as we walk through this, you can get a little bit out of that. Ephesians chapter 2, as I said, we're reading those last few verses, 19 through 22. And this is what Paul writes. So then, you're no longer strangers and aliens, or foreigners is the word there. But you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God. Keep those two designated. Nations in your mind. You were a stranger. Now you're a citizen. You were a foreigner. Now you're a member of the household of God. Built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the cornerstone. We just sang that. In whom the whole structure being joined together grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In Him, you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. This morning we're talking about we were alone and now we're being built together. Let's pray. Let's pray and ask God to help us as we walk through this. So, Father, as we come to Your Word, Paul wrote to Timothy and said that Your Word is good. It's good for instruction. It's good for reproof. It's good to make us more of who You've called us to be. So I'm asking that as we work through this, that each person, by way of Your Holy Spirit, a light would be shed on these scriptures that we might gain something that helps us be closer to You, that helps us know our place with You. But, Father, I also ask that You would do something in this church, that You would bring our minds to what You are doing in building Your church. This is not something we can do. Only You can do it through the Gospel. Make us aware of it, instruct us in it, and help us with it. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

All right. So, what I'd like to do with, as we've been going through Ephesians, is kind of find the center point of these verses. You know, Paul in his writing, a lot of times as he's writing, Paul goes all over the place. And sometimes it can be hard. Even Peter, the Apostle Peter, wrote about Paul's writings and said, it's kind of hard to understand because he says so much so quickly. Within a few sentences, Paul has unpacked things that theologians still don't fully have a grasp on. That's how we know not only is it good for us, but it is inspired of God because there's so much there. It is like a never-ending treasure chest. And every time we reach our hand into the chest, we pull out a new treasure that can be looked upon and valued and we can worship God over. So, Paul's words are a lot like that. So, in Ephesians, which many theologians would call the crown or the jewel on the crown of the Gospel, it says so much about what God has accomplished, what God has done, what God is about. You almost have to carefully look at each part because if you don't, you'll miss stuff. And we said this at the beginning. We said this at the beginning of the year when we started going through Ephesians, that God was going to give us a twelve-course meal with an inch-long fork. And so, it's very important that as a church, we go through these texts and not press on them just what we've heard or just what we think, but what is God actually saying in the Scripture. And so, the center point of this text is the word 'built' or 'building' or 'structure'. You can see that really quickly through the text. It starts with some designations. Again, our whole series has been on this - this is where we were, but this is who you are now. And we're going to get to that part because that's really important. But it's secondary to what this verse is really speaking of. The center point of what God is speaking to or what Paul is writing about is that God is building something now. God didn't build something that we're experiencing. God is building His church today. You remember Jesus' words to His disciples when He said, Hey, who do you say that I am? And Peter spoke up and He said, You're the Messiah. You're the Christ. You're the Son of the living God. And Jesus responded with, You're right. Peter, I call you. He calls Him Peter. He went and basically said, Your name means stone or pebble, but I'm saying you're the rock. And He's kind of a double entendre here. He's saying, on that rock, meaning Peter is an apostle, and the confession of Jesus as the Christ, I'm going to build My church. So, I never hear anyone say, We've got to build the church. No, no we don't. We don't build the church. That's only Jesus’ job. You can’t build something that God is building. We can be co-workers in what He’s doing, but God builds His church. And again, for most of us, most of us, this might not even be a big thing. When you hear God's building something, I’ve got a life I’m living. Church is something you do on Sundays. So, I'm hoping that today, as we’re walking through, this, you can understand very quickly the things that you want to build often take priority in your life. And the thing that God is building often takes a backseat. I think that's easy to see. Come on. Look at your life real quick and tell me that you're that concerned about what God is building. Sometimes, even as the church, it gets easy to forget God's had an eternal plan to make a people that He would be their God and they would be His people. You say, No, I thought that Jesus came to die. No, I thought for a sense He did to make us a people that He could dwell with. And He's been doing this for all time. You’ll remember in the Old Testament, the people He was building was called Israel. And then when Christ came, the dividing wall that Matt was talking about last week, this wall of hostility between Jews and Gentiles has been taken down and now God's not just building a nation. By the way, we, the church, are the new Israel. So, we don't have to worry about the nation-state. I'm not saying we should be anti-Semitic. I'm not saying that at all. But there's a new Israel. It's not a replacement. It's a fulfillment. So, if you've been in the church for a little while and you've heard that God loves Israel and God loves the church, no, God loves the new Israel and that is the church made up of Jew and Gentile. Okay? And He's building that today. He's building the church today. He's building it in Iran. He's building it in Africa. He's building it in Nigeria. He's building it in Latin America. He's building it right here in Warrior, Alabama. He's building people together. So, the central piece of this scripture is this. God is building something. Now, this is what we have to say right off the cuff because if we don't, what we'll kind of do is, okay, well, God's building something. That's great. Amen. Close it. Let's send the sending liturgy and we'll just head on out of here. There's something important to remember about God, the Master Builder and what He's building. And this is in your notes. God, through the Gospel, builds a holy structure from unholy material. Let's get that in our heads, okay? I'm not here to demean you. We are not gathered together to self-depreciate. I'm just the worst. Josh has a hat on that says, I'm the worst. I rebuke Jesus. Okay, no, I'm just kidding. I laughed at it. I thought that was hilarious. But we're not here to talk about how bad we are. Listen, if you find yourself constantly hating yourself and you think that that's what God wants, you need to go back to the cross and you need to revisit your salvation. You were not saved to self-deprecate. You were saved onto sanctification, meaning you are saved so you can be changed, not to sit and talk about how awful you are. However, many Christians don't think they were that bad so they just needed a touch of the cross. And you and I, we know this, don't we? I needed everything that that cross offers. I am warped lumber. Me and my brother were building something one time and we went to the lumber section in Lowes, could not find a straight board. You put it up to your eye on that thing and just at the end we go, I think maybe some of us need to realize that while the majority of our life looks good, they're still up at the end. Do you ever get stuck in thinking that? I'm really not that bad. I just got a little wrong there at the end. You can't build good buildings with bad material. Now this is the thing. You can't, but God does. That's the only, hey, that's the only hope I have is that God can make something out of this life. Romans 3.23 says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. So you don't have just a little ehh at the end. You're like, okay? I want to see how the Spanish translation, Maritza, they're probably translated as tongues or something. I don't know. But you got more than a little wrong with you. You're eternally separated from God until Christ came and lifted you out of the pit. Right? So God, listen to this. Listen to this. God is building a holy structure from unholy material. This is why. We remember Paul's words in Corinthians when he says, we are earthen vessels with a treasure, a glorious treasure inside of this. No one in the ancient world would stick priceless treasure in a clay pot. Why? Because the treasure is worth keeping secret, safe, and bound. The clay pot can easily be broken. But you see, this is what God delights in. It shows the exceeding greatness of His power and His ability and His goodness when He can store treasure in something as frail as a clay pot. And when you realize that God and His power is keeping treasure in you, knowing who you are, that you've got a warped reality, that you were in sin and that you had no hope, that when you realize that God puts treasure in that, that'll change your whole life. Like, if you don't realize that, of course you don't want to pray. Oh, why would you get into scriptures? Why would you do anything? Why would you fast? Why would you give? Why would you come on Sundays? You wouldn't do any of that if you didn't think that. But oh, if you fast, you find this power and grace when you realize God's put something in you despite you. It's His choosing, as God says through Paul earlier in Ephesians, it is not of your works. It's a gift from God. So we have to get that part down before we can travel out from the scripture. So what we get in the middle of this scripture is God is building a holy structure and then He's building it from unholy material. Fantastic news. The Gospel is, it's for broken people. Jesus said, I did not call for those who are healthy. I came for the sick. Man, if you're not around any sick people, church, the reason the American church is flaking is because we don't get around sick people anymore. Either that or we do get around sick people and we develop a cough. You can't be in one and one in the other, right? You are called to go into the world, but not be of the world. We got to get around sick folks because the Gospel is for sick folks. So we can talk about, wow, I've had a bad cough. It was killing me. I had something in my bones. It was killing me. Christ found me. Not sit around and judge everyone, acting like we didn't have a burn at the end, you know? If everyone's got a burn, then we can go to the burn. You know what I'm saying? Again, the Spanish is going to be like, wow, okay. So God's building something. It's a holy structure at the end there, Paul says, a dwelling place, a holy temple that God, when that isn't, if you've been reading a daily, a daily Bible reading with us, we've been reading in Jeremiah. If you're tired with all the doom and gloom from Jeremiah and Isaiah and Ezekiel, it's okay. You know what? We need to see those prophecies because we realize that God is faithful even when His people are not. God is saying, there's something that's going to come your way, but I'm not going to forget you. There's consequences you're going to have to walk out, but I'm going to pull you back. God is so good, even in the gloom and doom of what He says He must do to faithfully redeem His people. And Jeremiah and Isaiah and now even Ezekiel are saying these kinds of things. They're saying this theme over and over again. You'll find it in Jeremiah. You'll find it in Isaiah. You'll find it in Ezekiel. What are you going to find? I will be your God and you will be my people. You find that theme over and over and over again, even though these people are running away from God. They're so not interested in God. And He says, one day there's going to be a change. There's going to be a turn. You'll be my people. I'll be your God and I'll dwell. I'll dwell with you. So Paul is literally saying everything that was prophesied that you thought was just fulfilled with this nation called Israel, I'm saying in the New Israel. Now listen to this. We often talk about eternity. Eternity will be when everything gets fixed and that's true. But guys, that prophecy was not for eternity. It was for today. Meaning God wishes to build something where He can dwell and meet, where Heaven meets Earth. In the ancient world, that's what a Temple was. Every person in the ancient world knew a Temple was where Heaven and Earth collide. That your God of choice was in the Temple. And the Christian comes in and says, no, no, no, we're not at a Temple. You become the Temple. That's crazy. Treasure and Earth and vessel, a holy structure from unholy material. So we come out from that. God's building something through the Gospel and we know it's through the Gospel. Why did I put that little tag in there? Just really quickly, because Paul says it. He says, you're a part of the Household of God. He said, you're built on the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the Cornerstone. Just real quick, why did Paul say that? Here's why. The Prophets foretold it, the Apostles confirmed it, and Christ became the block in the ancient world. You would set one stone in the corner, it sets the whole tone, it sets the whole tone for the building. So the Prophets said, there's one coming. There's one coming, Charles, and this is what will happen. He's the Root of Jesse. He's the Son of David. He's going to be King of Kings, Lord of Lords. The Angels came and spoke to the Shepherds and said, there's one that's being born today in the City of Bethlehem. He Shall be Called Almighty God, Wonderful Counselor. He's come. The Prophets said, He's Coming. The Apostles said, He's Here. They saw Him Die. They saw Him Raised to Life and they saw Him Ascend. So Paul says, this Building is not some little shaky thing, some little Shed out in your backyard that you got a whim and you watched a YouTube Video on and you built it, okay? We're not talking about shaky Carpentry. We're talking about the Master Builder has said a Foundation is coming, Confirmed it through the Apostles, and then built it off of Christ himself. This is a Warning for the Church. May it be so that everything that is shaken from your life be a Wake Up Sign to you where you're building. If your life gets shaken and something begins to Fall Off, it may be that it wasn't built on Christ. And that would be okay for the Disciple, wouldn't it? For those who Truly Believe, Shake everything off of me that's not built on Christ because it's not Going to last. It's not going to last. So through the Gospel, God is building a holy Structure with Unholy Material. And He's Doing this through the Gospel. He Sent Prophets to Say it Was coming. He Sent Apostles to Confirm that it Happened and put Christ as the Cornerstone. And now the Church is Being built off of that Foundation. So then, okay, God's building something. He's building it off the Gospel. What Does that Mean for Us? Okay, let's look at this last Part here. Kind of the Outer Rings here, if you could Call it that. Elzah being God's building something. That Ring After that is He's building it through the Gospel. He said it Would happen. He said and confirmed it. Now, what about that Outer Ring? Three things, and then we'll kind of close here. About you Were Alone. You were an outcast. You were out here, but now you're being built Together. Number one, you're a Foreigner. We're a Foreigner. Now you're a Citizen. You Are a Foreigner. And now you're a Citizen with the Saints. I Got to Take just a Second here. So if you... If you Will, I'm going to take a Little Bit of Time. Okay, just a Little Bit. Paul is Jewish. Pharisee of Pharisees. You can Read his Whole Life Story. If you Want to go through the backside of Acts. If you Want to listen to him Talk More about that in Corinthians. He Says this is Who he is. He is a Pharisee of Pharisees. But Did you know Paul Had a Roman Citizenship? He was a Citizen of Rome. You can Find that Whole Story in the back End of Acts when he's about to be beaten for something. And he says, would you Beat a Roman Citizen? And they're like, holy Smokes. We Didn't know you were a Roman Citizen. And then he Appeals to Caesar. And him being in Jail is where we get a Lot of the Letters that we Read From Paul. Okay. The Reason we get these Letters is because Paul Appealed as a Roman Citizen to Caesar. And he's in Jail Waiting to go before Caesar. So he's Pinning these Letters. Isn't that Interesting? So Paul is Really Working the Cultural Idea of Citizenship with the Second Largest City in Rome, Ephesus. Those in Ephesus would Have Known all about Citizenship. Okay. And I Asked if I could Share this. And Gretel and Maritza are here. In 2018, 2018 is the Year, Gretel and Maritza got Their US Citizenship. And I Wanted to, I Remember that Time. And they're from Cuba. And I Remember that Time. I Remember it being just like a, it was Crazy kind of, you know. It was Wild. It was Around that Time when, and by the way, I'm Trying to Figure out if this is an Ax I'm Grinding or if this is just the Lord. We should Care about People. Shouldn't we? We shouldn't have to, as a Church, as the Christian Church built on Christ, we shouldn't Question that. Now, when we get to Matters of Theology, we would say Salvation Comes only through Christ. But I can Care for you. Period. Whether you're from this Country or not. They have an Incredible Story. An Incredible Mom over here. I know. But we're going to Honor. We're going to Honor you Anyway. Amen? Because you had to get on that little Boat, didn't you? With your little Girl. I'm going to Tell you something after Service. So Remind me, okay? Because I Want to Prophecy to you. I just Belief God Wants to tell you something. But it was a really, this incredible Story. If you don't know their Story, Invite them over for Dinner. Or Better Yet, let them Cook you Cuban Food and come over to their House. They like that. And let them Tell you this Story of you Thinking you were Looking for Light, but you were sent here. I'll Prophecy right now. You Thought you were Coming here. You Thought you were here for something, but God sent you here. God sent you here. And I Remember Distinctly During that Time, it was a Very Interesting Time. But there's going to be a Time where it Doesn't Matter if we're here. If you're first-Time Guests here, we're the Tabernacle Church. We just got to go wherever we go. So we Might be here in Another Year. I don't know. But there's going to be a Day where there is a Lobby Filled with English and Spanish Conversations. The Prayer Team is going to have to have English Speakers and Spanish Speakers. Because there are going to be people here who Need to Hear and Understand in their Language. I Think there's a Big Part of that that comes back Down to you Too. These little Translation Devices are Good. But one Day there's going to be as many people here who Speak Spanish as there are that Speak English. And it's going to be this Building that God's doing. Because we don't Bring people in and say, do it how we do it. How do we? No, God says, come in, Accommodate, Love, Care, Serve one another, Prefer one another. Honor one another. So it may be one Day that the English people are confused because the Giving Liturgy is Done in Spanish. And you just got to Hold on. Because you don't know what they're Saying. Amen. I wanted to say, eres una Luz. That's what I wanted to say. You're a Light. You weren't Looking for Light. You are the Light of God. She got on that Boat. They came over here. And God, yeah, amen. And she Won't let you tell her that Much. She's Already Pointing up At the Ceiling. But you have to be Obedient. You have to be Obedient. Scary, man. Y’all got to come to Tonight. We're going to talk a little bit about that. Not that Story Specifically. And I remembered I asked Gretel, I said, just tell me a little bit about what that Process was like. Because None of you in here know what it's like to get Citizenship here. You were, listen to me, you were Born here with Inalienable Rights. You were Protected Under the Law. They were not. They were Green Card Holders. And Gretel said this. And this is what I thought was so Good about what Gretel said. She said, I'm not going to let you get Citizenship. She said, I had to Wrestle with letting go of my Cuban Citizenship. And isn't that what happens when you come into the Kingdom of God? Don't you have to let go of Sort of your First Love, your Citizenship in the World, in a Sense? And God Redeems that. He Makes you a Citizen Along with the Saints. You're no Longer a Foreigner. You're no Longer an Immigrant. You're a Citizen. And they're Citizens of America. I mean, that's Cool. But they're Citizens with the Saints. They're Saints in the Kingdom of God. Rights and Privileges. You can Bust up. See, as American Citizens, I can't Bust up in that Oval Office. They will Tackle your Friend, Jonathan, to the Floor. But you, as a Citizen of Heaven, can Pop into the Throne Room of God, and the King of the Universe will give you Grace for Whatever you need. That's a Right you have as a Citizen. So Paul says, you're not a Foreigner anymore. You're a Citizen. Then he says, you're a Member of the Household. You're a Member of the Household of God. So you were a Stranger, but now you're a Son or a Daughter of God. You've Been Adopted. Another Roman Thing that we would have been Playing off of. Because if you were Adopted in Roman Society, it wasn't like, oh, yeah, this is my Adopted Son. No, you were a Son with all the Rights of the Son that would have been Natural. So Paul says, in order to Build this Holy Structure, we've got to take Foreigners and Make Them Citizens. We've got to take Strangers and Make Them Sons. How does that happen? Through the Gospel. You may have thought the Gospel just Forgives you of your Sins, but it doesn't just Erase an old Designation. It Imparts a New One. You are now a Child of God, a Citizen of Heaven. He has said, now, I'm going to take all these people, Cubans and Rednecks. You might be a Cuban Redneck. I don't know, Gretel. A Hybrid Model, you know. But what does He Begin to do? That's why you need to listen. Listen, you need to Lean in in this Season as the Church Learns to Love the Nations. Because the, I'm Sorry, Politically, America First may make sense politically, but it doesn't make sense in the Kingdom of God. Every Empire Falls Short of the Kingdom. We can be America First in Our Policies about Foreign Affairs, our Economics. I think that Stuff's Probably Fine, whatever. But when it comes to how God Builds His Church, we have got to Learn and Move to Love the Nations. Because there are Foreigners Becoming Citizens, Strangers Becoming Sons all Across the World. And some people are Losing their Lives because of it. And as we Sit over here Cozy, we need to Remember God is Building. While we Sleep and we Slumber, God is Building. While you Apologetically Engage your Life with God, He's Building. And He Builds where there's Places to Build. I want to be Among them. Finally, you're a Stone to a Structure. Peter, in 1 Peter, he says that you're Living Stones being built together, just like Paul said here, as a Holy Temple. The Interesting Thing about Living Stones, the Same thing that Paul Echoes in Romans 12 when he says, you need to give yourself as a Living Sacrifice, a Living Sacrifice, a Living Stone. You see, Stones don't Move, but Living Stones tend to Squirm. Y’all with me on that? You put a Stone somewhere, it's not going anywhere. Living Stones? Uh-uh, I don't like that. Please don't put me there. No, no, no, I don't want to do it. Please don't. Oh, no. Could you Imagine Trying to Build a Structure with Material that Constantly tries to Decide where the Master Builder should put that Material? It'd be very Hard. You just Nail a Board. That Board Unplugs itself from where it's Nailed. I want to be on the Roof. Put me down here on the Bottom. What are you doing? Why did you put me here? That's why we talk about Placement in the Church so much. When you Realize that God has put you together with a group of people, you Start Realizing that it's not just Personal anymore. Many of you have been taught, you came into Faith this way. Do you want to Trust Jesus as your, listen, personal Lord and Savior? How many of you Ever Heard that Once or Twice, maybe a Hundred Times? Maybe you got Re-Saved fifty times like I did before you really Locked in. Do you want to Trust Jesus to be your Personal? Yes, God does Personal Work. The Gospel isn't meant only for the Individual Person, but to build a People. So He Saves you, He Moves you. Listen to all the Descriptors. Hey, you're a Foreigner, but now you're a Citizen. Citizenship Speaks of a Nation. Do you know in 1 Peter, where I just referred to the Living Stones, he says, you're a Holy Nation. You're the new Israel of God. You're not just a Child, you belong to a Family. Shout out to all my only Children in the House, okay? There it is, Sammy P., she's got it on Lock. You're not God's only Child. You have Siblings now. You're not a Citizen of a Population of One. You're a part of a Nation, the Israel of God. You're not just a Stone, but you're a part of a Structure. Now listen, there are beliefs out there that speak of the Communal Wellbeing above the Individual. I'm not trying to Promote some kind of Political Scheme. I'm trying to tell you what the Kingdom says. The Kingdom says you're Important as an Individual, but you're being built together. And this is why that's Important. Some of y’all are doing the Most Thieving to the Body of Christ. What do I mean by that? It Means you're Saved, you're going to Heaven, but you're not being built together. Just say it the way I'll say it, ok? And if you want to talk to me Afterwards, you can say it. Quit being Rogue. Great Group of people in the Third and Fourth Century Went out and Started these Monastic Centers, but they're called the Desert Fathers. There were these people that got Convicted as Christianity Became Mainstream, they didn't want to be a part of it anymore because it was becoming something Other than what had Originally been Preached. And they didn't want to be Polluted by that Type of Christianity. So they Left for the Deserts of Egypt. And that might Sound Right. You know, there's a lot of that in the American Spirit, an Individual, go out, do your Own Thing. It's me and God. God's going to be my Father. God's going to do this. God's going to do that. I think Everybody Needs that. But I've Seen More Christians Than I Ever have. I've in my Entire Life Turning their Back on the Eternal Purpose of God. He did not put Christ on the Cross to Save you in a Silo. He's Building something. And if you Insist on being built Alone, you're Robbing God of His Glory because His Glory is Made Manifest when People who shouldn't be together are Brought Together. When People who shouldn't Agree on the One Thing Come Together. That's why I'm here. That's why Church Services Matter. Church Services don't Matter because the Music's on Point or because I Preach the Best Sermon because when we come together, we Become a Glory Hub for God. You and I, if we Investigated our Backgrounds, we probably Disagree on More Things than the Agreement we have on Christ. But when we can come and we can say the Cornerstone, I'm not going to let Someone Stand in my Place and Sing what I know to be True. And when you begin to hear the Saints, some of you need to Practice this. Shut your Pie Hole on Sundays every once in a while. Like I do. I'm Talking to me. And listen to the Saints Sing. When you hear them sing, you go, I'm not Alone. I'm not a Stranger. I'm not a Foreigner. I'm not a Stone off the way. I've been put in this Holy Structure. And guys, you need to know, our Growth Plan as a Church isn't trying to figure out how to get more Stones. It's just saying, God, put us together however you want. I love that. It Takes all the Pressure off. Then what can we do? We can just Honors God. How? How's He Building us? How has He put us together? Yes, you have to Trust God as your Personal Lord and Savior. But He Saves you into a Holy Structure. Love the Church. Sometimes I don't Love Church. Amen. Come on, Somebody. Sometimes I don't Love Church. Sometimes Church is like, but I Love the Church. And the reason, Outside of I would say the Grace of God, the reason I've Stood Alone is because I've seen God Come through on His Promises to keep, to keep Building what He said. Guys, I don't Care. I don't Care what you think some person's Stat said. Christianity may be like Teetering, that Idea of Christianity, but the Church, the Church is not backing up. I've Got Nigerian Brothers and Sisters Losing their Life because they're Point Blank being asked to Renounce Christ and they're not. Just because you got People on every Street Corner over here Living Lazy Christianity doesn't mean the Church that God is Building is not going to be a Church. It's not erupting with praise and Honor and Glory. It's happening. See the Nation. See the People of God Rising up and saying, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. We don't, we don't Worship other people in Christ Alone. Amen. That Feeds my Soul. Don't Rob me of your Life in Christ. We need each other, don't we? Amen. Some of you, there's a Call here to Serve your Brothers and Sisters. I don't mean be on a Serve Team. If you need to be on a Serve Team, get on a Serve Team. I think that stuff's Great, but don't Withhold your Life anymore. Don't be a Living Stone that every time you get Close to being Placed, you Waddle out of Position. Stick around for a while. Sure would be hard to Eat Dinner on a Table that Continually Breaks itself Apart. Sure would be hard to Sleep in a Bedroom when at Camp. I like Having Cam over here to Talk to me. He's kind of Affirming me as I'm Talking. I like this. Can we Change this to an Organ Sound and you can be, no, okay, all right, I'm done. It's just, it's Hard. It's Hard to be built together when everyone's constantly Moving. We're Living Stones. We're Living Stones being built together. Let it be that there's a New Submission over this Church. God, wherever you want to put me, however you want to place me, however you want to Build me together with your People. Why? Because there's something to give out of me that Helps Bricks to my Left and my Right, amen. The Mortar is the Gospel, but man, I'm telling you, you have something to Offer people around you. I want to make a Couple of Announcements. You want to throw that Screen up there and then I want us to Actually, let me Pray and then we'll go through Announcements. Let me Get things in Order. Some of y’all are like, yeah, right, I am. I'm going to make a Short Prayer. Where's your Move in this? Do you not Think very much of the Church? Is Church an Activity or a Place more than it is the People of God? Do you Care about the Nations? Do you See your Citizenship? Do you See your Sonship? Could you just go to the Lord with me for a Second? Father, we Acknowledge you being with us today. We Acknowledge the Presence of Jesus. We Acknowledge your Work, Holy Spirit, to change us, to Inform us, to Impart to us, to Bring us along. Father, help this Church. I just, I keep Hearing in my Heart in Prayer that this is a Year where we really do Understand more Fully what it means for every Member to be a Missionary, for every Member of the Body to be a Minister. God, let that Fully Resonate. I think that it would, it would Make sense then, God, if these Living Stones, all of us were saying, no, I'm not gonna move out of Place anymore. I'm Gonna Settle Down. Father, let the Mortar of the Gospel Solidify our Place. Help us so Glorious that you Build us Together. Only you Could do this, treasure an Earthen Vessel, Making us a Temple, a Dwelling Place for the Lord. I don't know, God, let there be some awe in that for me and your People. We Ask it in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Sunday Night Church was our Attempt to kind of Recapture what it Used to be like when you would go to a Sunday Night Service, and it was kind of Low Key, but it was kind of, the Atmosphere was kind of Thick, just because it just felt like, you know, the Saints just were just, I don't know, it was just Different. And that's why we call it Sunday Night Church, and I don't think Anything Special Technically Happens because we call it that, but if, I've Never Said this Before a Day in my Life, but I've Got a Word for the Church. And I just, I think it Deals with Obedience. And I was Thinking about your Story, Marisa, about Obediating even in the Midst of things that just Feel like I should, why am I doing this? Oh my Gosh.
