For in the eighthH8083 yearH8141 of his reignH4427, while he was yet youngH5288, he beganH2490 to seekH1875 after the GodH430 of DavidH1732 his fatherH1; and in the twelfthH8147 yearH8141 he beganH2490 to purgeH2891 JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389 from the high placesH1116, and the AsherimH842, and the graven imagesH6456, and the molten imagesH4541.
And they brake downH5422 the altarsH4196 of the BaalimH1168 in his presenceH6440; and the sun-imagesH2553 that were on high above themH4605 he hewed downH1438; and the AsherimH842, and the graven imagesH6456, and the molten imagesH6456, he brake in piecesH7665, and made dustH1854 of them, and strewedH2236 it uponH6440 the gravesH6913 of them that had sacrificedH2076 unto them.

And they cameH935 to HilkiahH2518 the highH1419 priestH3548, and deliveredH5414 the moneyH3701 that was broughtH935 into the houseH1004 of GodH430, which the LevitesH3881, the keepersH8104 of the thresholdH5592, had gatheredH622 of the handH3027 of ManassehH4519 and EphraimH669, and of all the remnantH7611 of IsraelH3478, and of all JudahH3063 and BenjaminH1144, and of the inhabitantsH7725 of JerusalemH3389.
And they deliveredH5414 it into the handH3027 of the workmenH6213 that had the oversightH6485 of the houseH1004 of JehovahH3068; and the workmenH6213 that wroughtH6213 in the houseH1004 of JehovahH3068 gaveH5414 it to mendH2388 and repairH918 the houseH1004:
even to the carpentersH2796 and to the buildersH1129 gaveH5414 they it, to buyH7069 hewnH4274 stoneH68, and timberH6086 for couplingsH4226, and to make beamsH7136 for the housesH1004 which the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063 had destroyedH7843.
And the menH582 didH6213 the workH4399 faithfullyH530: and the overseersH5329 of them were JahathH3189 and ObadiahH5662, the LevitesH3881, of the sonsH1121 of MerariH4847; and ZechariahH2148 and MeshullamH4918, of the sons of the KohathitesH6956, to set it forwardH6485; and others of the LevitesH3881, all that were skilfulH995 with instrumentsH3627 of musicH7892.
Also they were over the bearers of burdensH5449, and set forwardH5329 all that didH6213 the workH4399 in every manner of serviceH5656: and of the LevitesH3881 there were scribesH5608, and officersH7860, and portersH7778.
And when they brought outH3318 the moneyH3701 that was brought intoH935 the houseH1004 of JehovahH3068, HilkiahH2518 the priestH3548 foundH4672 the bookH5612 of the lawH8451 of JehovahH3068 given byH3027 MosesH4872.

And ShaphanH8227 carriedH935 the bookH5612 to the kingH4428, and moreover broughtH7725 backH7725 wordH1697 to the kingH4428, sayingH559, All that was committedH5414 toH3027 thy servantsH5650, they are doingH6213.
And they have emptiedH5413 out the moneyH3701 that was foundH4672 in the houseH1004 of JehovahH3068, and have deliveredH5414 it into the handH3027 of the overseersH6485, and into the handH3027 of the workmenH6213.
And ShaphanH8227 the scribeH5608 toldH5046 the kingH4428, sayingH559, HilkiahH2518 the priestH3548 hath deliveredH5414 me a bookH5612. And ShaphanH8227 readH7121 therein beforeH6440 the kingH4428.
And it came to pass, when the kingH4428 had heardH8085 the wordsH1697 of the lawH8451, that he rentH7167 his clothesH899.
And the kingH4428 commandedH6680 HilkiahH2518, and AhikamH296 the sonH1121 of ShaphanH8227, and AbdonH5658 the sonH1121 of MicahH4318, and ShaphanH8227 the scribeH5608, and AsaiahH6222 the king'sH4428 servantH5650, sayingH559,
GoH3212 ye, inquireH1875 of JehovahH3068 for me, and for them that are leftH7604 in IsraelH3478 and in JudahH3063, concerning the wordsH1697 of the bookH5612 that is foundH4672; for greatH1419 is the wrathH2534 of JehovahH3068 that is poured outH5413 upon us, because our fathersH1 have not keptH8104 the wordH1697 of JehovahH3068, to doH6213 according unto all that is writtenH3789 in this bookH5612.
So HilkiahH2518, and they whom the kingH4428 had commanded, wentH3212 to HuldahH2468 the prophetessH5031, the wifeH802 of ShallumH7967 the sonH1121 of TokhathH8616, the sonH1121 of HasrahH2641, keeperH8104 of the wardrobeH899; (now she dweltH3427 in JerusalemH3389 in the second quarterH4932;) and they spakeH1696 to her to that effect.
And she saidH559 unto them, Thus saithH559 JehovahH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: TellH559 ye the manH376 that sentH7971 you unto me,
Thus saithH559 JehovahH3068, Behold, I will bringH935 evilH7451 upon this placeH4725, and upon the inhabitantsH3427 thereof, even all the cursesH423 that are writtenH3789 in the bookH5612 which they have readH7121 beforeH6440 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063.
Because they have forsakenH5800 me, and have burned incenseH6999 unto otherH312 godsH430, that they might provoke me to angerH3707 with all the worksH4639 of their handsH3027; therefore is my wrathH2534 poured outH5413 upon this placeH4725, and it shall not be quenchedH3518.
But untoH413 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, who sentH7971 you to inquireH1875 of JehovahH3068, thus shall ye sayH559 to him, Thus saithH559 JehovahH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478: As touching the wordsH1697 which thou hast heardH8085,
because thy heartH3824 was tenderH7401, and thou didst humbleH3665 thyself beforeH6440 GodH430, when thou heardestH8085 his wordsH1697 against this placeH4725, and against the inhabitantsH3427 thereof, and hast humbledH3665 thyself beforeH6440 me, and hast rentH7167 thy clothesH899, and weptH1058 beforeH6440 me; I also have heardH8085 thee, saithH5002 JehovahH3068.
Behold, I will gatherH622 thee to thy fathersH1, and thou shalt be gatheredH622 to thy graveH6913 in peaceH7965, neither shall thine eyesH5869 seeH7200 all the evilH7451 that I will bringH935 upon this placeH4725, and upon the inhabitantsH3427 thereof. And they broughtH7725 backH7725 wordH1697 to the kingH4428.
Then the kingH4428 sentH7971 and gathered togetherH622 all the eldersH2205 of JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389.
And the kingH4428 went upH5927 to the houseH1004 of JehovahH3068, and all the menH376 of JudahH3063 and the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389, and the priestsH3548, and the LevitesH3881, and all the peopleH5971, both greatH1419 and smallH6996: and he readH7121 in their earsH241 all the wordsH1697 of the bookH5612 of the covenantH1285 that was foundH4672 in the houseH1004 of JehovahH3068.
And the kingH4428 stoodH5975 in his placeH5977, and madeH3772 a covenantH1285 beforeH6440 JehovahH3068, to walkH3212 afterH310 JehovahH3068, and to keepH8104 his commandmentsH4687, and his testimoniesH5715, and his statutesH2706, with all his heartH3824, and with all his soulH5315, to performH6213 the wordsH1697 of the covenantH1285 that were writtenH3789 in this bookH5612.
And he caused all that were foundH4672 in JerusalemH3389 and BenjaminH1144 to standH5975 to it. And the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 didH6213 according to the covenantH1285 of GodH430, the GodH430 of their fathersH1.
And JosiahH2977 took awayH5493 all the abominationsH8441 out of all the countriesH776 that pertained to the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, and made all that were foundH4672 in IsraelH3478 to serveH5647, even to serveH5647 JehovahH3068 their GodH430. All his daysH3117 they departedH5493 not from followingH310 JehovahH3068, the GodH430 of their fathersH1.
