Then cameH935 certainH582 of the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478 unto me, and satH3427 beforeH6440 me.
And the wordH1697 of JehovahH3068 came unto me, sayingH559,
SonH1121 of manH120, these menH582 have takenH5927 their idolsH1544 into their heartH3820, and putH5414 the stumblingblockH4383 of their iniquityH5771 beforeH5227 their faceH6440: should I be inquiredH1875 of at allH1875 by them?
Therefore speakH1696 unto them, and sayH559 unto them, Thus saithH559 the LordH136 JehovahH3069: Every manH376 of the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 that takethH5927 his idolsH1544 into his heartH3820, and puttethH7760 the stumblingblockH4383 of his iniquityH5771 beforeH5227 his faceH6440, and comethH935 to the prophetH5030; I JehovahH3068 will answerH6030 him thereinH935 according to the multitudeH7230 of his idolsH1544;
that I may takeH8610 the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 in their own heartH3820, because they are all estrangedH2114 from me through their idolsH1544.
Therefore sayH559 unto the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, Thus saithH559 the LordH136 JehovahH3069: ReturnH7725 ye, and turnH7725 yourselves from your idolsH1544; and turn awayH7725 your facesH6440 from all your abominationsH8441.
For every oneH376 of the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, or of the strangersH1616 that sojournH1481 in IsraelH3478, that separatethH5144 himself from meH310, and takethH5927 his idolsH1544 into his heartH3820, and puttethH7760 the stumblingblockH4383 of his iniquityH5771 beforeH5227 his faceH6440, and comethH935 to the prophetH5030 to inquireH1875 for himself of me; I JehovahH3068 will answerH6030 him by myself:
and I will setH5414 my faceH6440 against that manH376, and will makeH8074 him an astonishment, for a signH226 and a proverbH4912, and I will cut him offH3772 from the midstH8432 of my peopleH5971; and ye shall knowH3045 that I am JehovahH3068.
And if the prophetH5030 be deceivedH6601 and speakH1696 a wordH1697, I, JehovahH3068, have deceivedH6601 that prophetH5030, and I will stretch outH5186 my handH3027 upon him, and will destroyH8045 him from the midstH8432 of my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478.
And they shall bearH5375 their iniquityH5771: the iniquityH5771 of the prophetH5030 shall be even as the iniquityH5771 of him that seekethH1875 unto him;
that the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 may go no more astrayH8582 from meH310, neither defileH2930 themselves any more with all their transgressionsH6588; but that they may be my peopleH5971, and I may be their GodH430, saithH5002 the LordH136 JehovahH3069.
And the wordH1697 of JehovahH3068 came unto me, sayingH559,
SonH1121 of manH120, when a landH776 sinnethH2398 against me by committingH4604 a trespassH4603, and I stretch outH5186 my handH3027 upon it, and breakH7665 the staffH4294 of the breadH3899 thereof, and sendH7971 famineH7458 upon it, and cut offH3772 from it manH120 and beastH929;
though these threeH7969 menH582, NoahH5146, DanielH1840, and JobH347, were in itH8432, they should deliverH5337 but their own soulsH5315 by their righteousnessH6666, saithH5002 the LordH136 JehovahH3069.
IfH3863 I cause evilH7451 beastsH2416 to pass throughH5674 the landH776, and they ravageH7921 it, and it be made desolateH8077, so that no man may pass throughH5674 becauseH6440 of the beastsH2416;
though these threeH7969 menH582 were in itH8432, as I liveH2416, saithH5002 the LordH136 JehovahH3069, they should deliverH5337 neither sonsH1121 nor daughtersH1323; they only should be deliveredH5337, but the landH776 should be desolateH8077.
Or if I bringH935 a swordH2719 upon that landH776, and sayH559, SwordH2719, go throughH5674 the landH776; so that I cut offH3772 from it manH120 and beastH929;
though these threeH7969 menH582 were in itH8432, as I liveH2416, saithH5002 the LordH136 JehovahH3069, they should deliverH5337 neither sonsH1121 nor daughtersH1323, but they only should be deliveredH5337 themselves.
Or if I sendH7971 a pestilenceH1698 into that landH776, and pour outH8210 my wrathH2534 upon it in bloodH1818, to cut offH3772 from it manH120 and beastH929;
though NoahH5146, DanielH1840, and JobH347, were in itH8432, as I liveH2416, saithH5002 the LordH136 JehovahH3069, they should deliverH5337 neither sonH1121 norH518 daughterH1323; they should but deliverH5337 their own soulsH5315 by their righteousnessH6666.
For thus saithH559 the LordH136 JehovahH3069: How much more when I sendH7971 my fourH702 soreH7451 judgmentsH8201 upon JerusalemH3389, the swordH2719, and the famineH7458, and the evilH7451 beastsH2416, and the pestilenceH1698, to cut offH3772 from it manH120 and beastH929!
Yet, behold, therein shall be leftH3498 a remnantH6413 that shall be carried forthH3318, both sonsH1121 and daughtersH1323: behold, they shall come forthH3318 unto you, and ye shall seeH7200 their wayH1870 and their doingsH5949; and ye shall be comfortedH5162 concerning the evilH7451 that I have broughtH935 upon JerusalemH3389, even concerning all that I have broughtH935 upon it.
And they shall comfortH5162 you, when ye seeH7200 their wayH1870 and their doingsH5949; and ye shall knowH3045 that I have not doneH6213 without causeH2600 all that I have doneH6213 in it, saithH5002 the LordH136 JehovahH3069.
