On this page
After your services are recorded, SermonWave builds public pages for your church and your sermons, so people searching online can find you. This article covers your church page: what's on it, where the details come from, and what you control.
Who it's for#
- Church admins who want to check how the church looks to the public.
- Communications volunteers who want to link to the church's sermons from the website or social media.
Before you start#
- Your church details are filled in (name, address, logo). See Church profile and Organization settings.
- At least one service has been recorded and processed, so there are sermons to show.
Two public pages: church page and listener page#
Your church has two public pages. They do different jobs.
| Church page | Listener page | |
|---|---|---|
| Address | sermonwave.com/church/your-church/ | sermonwave.com/listen/your-church |
| Made for | People finding you on Google | Your congregation, on Sunday and during the week |
| Live service | No | Yes, with live captions and translated audio |
| Past sermons | Yes, as sermon pages | Yes, with audio, transcript and summary |
The Spanish version of the church page is at sermonwave.com/es/iglesia/your-church/. your-church is your church's short name, based on the church name you signed up with.
To see your real links, open the setup guide in the dashboard and go to the Public pages step (Your sermons, easy to find). It lists your church page, a sermon page, topic and scripture pages, and your sitemaps.
What's on the church page#
From top to bottom:
- Header: your logo, church name and city. A Listen to Sermon button goes to your sermon archive.
- Latest Sermons: your three newest public sermons, with a View All Sermons button that shows the total.
- Scripture Focus: the books of the Bible you preach from most, based on your sermons.
- Frequently Asked Questions About your church: general questions and answers for visitors, such as what to expect, translation, past sermons and your location.
- Visit Church Website: your address with a Get Directions button, when your address is on file.
- Try SermonWave for Your Church: a short note about SermonWave.
Each sermon links to its own sermon page with the summary, key quotes, scriptures and the full transcript. See Share sermons.
The sermon archive page, sermonwave.com/church/your-church/sermons/, lists all your public sermons, newest first.
Where the details come from#
- Name, address and city come from your church details, entered in the setup guide's Your church step. See Organization settings.
- Logo is your church logo.
- Sermons, scriptures and topics come from your processed recordings. Only sermons set to Public appear.
Turning it on and off#
There's no switch for the church page. It's created for every active SermonWave church, and it fills up as you record services.
You control what's on it through sermon visibility:
- Public: shown on your church page, in search results, and on Google.
- Unlisted: only people with the link can open it. Not shown in search.
- Private: only your team sees it, in the dashboard.
New sermons are public. To change one, open it under Events and pick Public, Unlisted or Private. See Share sermons for details.
If you need your church page taken down completely, contact support.
Getting found on Google#
- SermonWave lists your church and sermon pages in sitemaps that tell Google about new pages automatically. There's nothing to submit.
- New pages usually show up in Google within a few days to a few weeks.
- Your church may also appear in the church directory at
sermonwave.com/churches/. - Sermons are grouped by topic (
sermonwave.com/sermons/topics/...) and by book of the Bible (sermonwave.com/sermons/scripture/...), so people searching those can find you.
Link to your church page from your own website. It's the simplest way to help people, and search engines, find it.
Troubleshooting#
My church page says "not found". Check the address and use your church's short name exactly. The setup guide's Public pages step shows your real link.
No sermons appear. Sermons appear after a recording finishes processing, and only if they're Public. See Sermon archive.
The address or logo is wrong. Update your church details and logo in the dashboard. See Church profile.
Google still shows a sermon I made private. Search engines can keep copies for a while after a page is removed. The page itself stops opening right away.
FAQ#
Can I change my church's short name in the address?#
It's set from your church name when you sign up. Contact support if it needs to change.
Is the church page translated?#
Yes. The Spanish version is at /es/iglesia/your-church/, and sermon pages offer the languages your sermons were translated into.
Do private sermons count in the totals?#
No. Only public sermons are listed and counted on the church page.
