Show live captions in ProPresenter Beta

Last updated October 6, 2026 For: ProPresenter operators who want live translated captions on the room screens or the stream

On this page

You can show SermonWave captions in ProPresenter two ways: directly, with a web page inside a Prop, or through OBS, if OBS already builds your stream. Both use a caption link.

Before you start#

  • Copy the caption link you want from the device page (Settings → Caption links) or the OBS dock. Example: https://sermonwave.com/cc/<code>/es.
  • The ProPresenter computer needs an internet connection.

Option A — directly in ProPresenter (Web Fill in a Prop)#

A Prop sits above slides, media and video input and stays up when the slide changes, so captions stay on screen through the whole service.

  1. Open the Props panel and create a new Prop. Name it, for example, "Captions Spanish".
  2. Right-click the Prop and choose Edit.
  3. Click + and choose Web Fill.
  4. Make the shape the full size of the output (for example 1920 × 1080). For a lower-third area you can make it shorter; the captions sit at the bottom of the page by default.
  5. Paste the caption link into URL.
  6. If the captions don't update while you watch, turn on Continuous Render for the web fill. Leave automatic refresh off: the page updates itself.
  7. Close the editor and click the Prop to show it. Leave it on for the whole service: it stays blank until captions arrive.

On a slide instead of a Prop#

In the slide editor click + → Web and paste the link in URL. The captions then disappear when you move to the next slide, so a Prop is usually better.

Option B — through OBS#

Use this if OBS mixes your livestream and ProPresenter sends its slides to OBS (for example over NDI).

  1. In OBS, add the captions with the SermonWave dock: Captions → Caption links → Add as Browser Source. See Show captions in OBS.
  2. Keep the browser source above the ProPresenter source in your scene.
  3. To also send the captions back into ProPresenter, install an NDI plugin for OBS (DistroAV), add a Dedicated NDI Output filter to the browser source, and select it in ProPresenter under Preferences → Video Input. ProPresenter puts video inputs on its lowest layer and may not keep transparency, so Option A is simpler for the room screens.

Troubleshooting#

  • Blank: no service is live, the link is Off, or the Prop isn't showing. A link that is off shows Off on the device page.
  • The words are cut off: make the web fill shape wider or taller, or lower Text size / Lines.
  • The captions are late: live captions follow the speaker by a few seconds, like an interpreter.
