A caption link is a web page with only the live captions on a transparent background. In OBS it becomes a Browser Source that you place anywhere in your scene.

Add it in one click#

  1. In the SermonWave dock, open Captions → Caption links.
  2. Find the language and the link you want: Original, Translation or Translation + original.
  3. Click Add as Browser Source.

OBS adds a Browser Source named "SermonWave CC <language>" to the current scene, sized to your canvas, with a transparent background. If that link is already a source, OBS re-uses it (and adds it to the current scene if needed) instead of making a copy.

Add it by hand (any OBS)#

  1. Click Copy next to the link (dock or dashboard).
  2. In Sources, click + → Browser and name it.
  3. Paste the link into URL, set Width and Height to your canvas (for example 1920 and 1080) and click OK. OBS browser sources are transparent by default.

Change the look#

Under each language in the dock, set the font, size, colours, outline, shadow, background box, lines, position, alignment, width, roll-up or pop-on, hold time and uppercase. The preview shows the result; Apply sends it to SermonWave and every open caption page — OBS, ProPresenter, any screen — changes right away. The dashboard's device page has the same settings.

On / Off#

A link that is Off shows a blank page and the dock shows Off next to it. Organization admins turn links on and off with the switch next to each link, in the dock or on the device page.

  • Caption link (Browser Source): the same captions and look everywhere (OBS, ProPresenter, a TV in the lobby), set up once, edited from the dock or the dashboard.
  • SermonWave Captions source: OBS-only overlay with its own style. See Translated captions in OBS.

Troubleshooting#

  • Blank: no service is live or the link is off.
  • Black background: the source's custom CSS was changed. Set it back to body { background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); margin: 0px auto; overflow: hidden; }.
  • Text too small or big: change Text size; the page scales with the browser source's width.
