This article explains how SermonWave's plan and add-ons work, the free trial, and how to choose, change or cancel from your dashboard. For current prices, see the pricing page. Prices are not repeated here so they cannot go out of date.

Who it's for#

Org Admins and whoever pays for SermonWave at your church. Anyone at your church can view the Plan & Billing screen, but only Org Admins can change it.

Before you start#

  • Sign in at dashboard.sermonwave.com with an Org Admin login.
  • Have a payment card ready when you choose a plan. Payments are handled by Stripe.

The free trial#

Every new account starts with a 14-day free trial. No credit card is needed.

  • Everything is included, translation too, so you can try it all.
  • One device: a web device or the OBS plugin.
  • Unlimited hours.

A banner at the top of the dashboard shows how many days are left. Your Org Admins get reminder emails 3 days and 1 day before the trial ends.

When the trial ends#

  • Going live and new recordings pause until you choose a plan.
  • Nothing is lost. Your sermon archive, listener page and sermon pages stay online, and you can still sign in to the dashboard.
  • Your Org Admins get a "Your SermonWave trial has ended" email.

The plan and add-ons#

Every plan and add-on has unlimited hours. There are no per-hour or per-minute charges or limits. Current prices are always on the pricing page, and the Plan & Billing screen in your dashboard shows your monthly total before you pay.

What you get
SermonWave (the base plan)Transcription in the language you preach in, and everything built on it: live captions, transcripts with word timing, summaries, outlines and quotes, Bible study tools, the sermon library and podcast, intro and outro audio, your listener page, caption links and engagement features. Includes 1 device (a web device or the OBS plugin).
+ TranslationLive translated captions and audio, plus translated transcripts, summaries and sermon audio in your archive. It is priced per language, per device: each device has its own languages and pays only for them. For example, a main campus translating into Spanish and French, plus a north campus translating into Vietnamese, is three languages in total.
+ More devices or locationsEach additional web device or OBS plugin connection is a discounted add-on to the base plan.
+ Voice cloningTranslated sermon audio in your preacher's own voice (labelled "AI voice", with consent). Needs Translation. Coming soon. It is not for sale yet.
  • Prices are in US dollars, billed monthly in advance. Taxes may be added where required.
  • SW1 hardware (a plug-in box for your sound desk) is not sold on a self-serve basis yet. Use a web device or the OBS plugin today. See "About SermonWave hardware" below.
Plan & Billing screen with the SermonWave plan, the Translation and More devices add-ons, and the Monthly total

Choose a plan#

  1. Go to Manage → Plan & Billing. You can also click Upgrade or Choose a plan in the banner.
  2. The SermonWave plan is always included.
  3. Under Translation → Languages per device, use + Add language next to each device to pick its languages. Click × on a language to remove it. The card shows the running total for each device's languages.
  4. Under More devices, use + to add devices or locations.
  5. If Add voice cloning is available for your church, switch it on if you want it. (It is marked coming soon for most churches.)
  6. Check the Monthly total, then click Continue to checkout (during your trial: Choose this plan). Stripe's secure checkout page opens.
  7. Enter your card and complete the payment. You return to the dashboard and see "Thank you! Your plan is active."

Choosing a plan during your trial: if more than 2 days of your trial are left, your card is saved now and your first payment is taken on the day your trial would have ended. Your trial, translation included, keeps running until then. With 2 days or less left, the first payment is taken at checkout.

Change your plan#

  1. Go to Manage → Plan & Billing. The screen now says Your plan and add-ons.
  2. Add or remove languages on any device, change the number of devices, or turn voice cloning on or off.
  3. Click Update plan and confirm.

Changes take effect immediately. You're charged or credited the difference for the rest of the billing period.

When a device asks for something your plan doesn't include, SermonWave shows an Add translation, Add languages or Add a device prompt that leads to this screen.

Manage billing: card, invoices and cancellation#

Click Manage billing on the Plan & Billing screen. A secure Stripe page opens where you can:

  • update your payment card,
  • see and download invoices,
  • cancel your subscription.

Cancelling#

  • Your subscription stays active until the end of the period you've paid for. The Plan & Billing screen shows "Cancels on …" until then.
  • After that, going live and new recordings pause. Your archive and public pages stay online.
  • Changed your mind? Choose a plan again on the Plan & Billing screen.

Per our Terms of Service, if SermonWave isn't right for your church, you can contact us within 30 days of your first paid charge and we will refund that charge. We handle these by hand, so email team@serve.love rather than looking for a button.

How a charge looks on your card statement#

SermonWave currently bills through the payment account of Serve.Love, the platform SermonWave is built alongside. Your card statement or receipt may show Serve.Love, SermonWave, or both. All of them are your SermonWave subscription.

If a payment fails#

  1. The banner shows "Your last payment failed. Update your card to keep going live." Your Org Admins also get an email.
  2. Going live keeps working for now. Stripe tries the card again over the next days.
  3. Click Update card in the banner, or Manage billing, and update your card.

If the payment still can't be collected, the subscription is canceled for non-payment and going live pauses. This happens when Stripe's retries run out, or 14 days after the first failed payment at the latest.

About SermonWave hardware#

If SermonWave provides a capture box (an SW1) to your church, it is leased, not sold. It stays SermonWave's property, and you keep it only while the subscription it belongs to is active. If the subscription ends or is cancelled, the box must be returned. We tell you in writing how and by when. Until you hear otherwise, treat the request to return it as starting when you cancel. The full terms are in section 9 of the Terms of Service.

Troubleshooting#

"Only a church admin can change the plan." Your login has the User role. Ask an Org Admin.

"Your plan includes transcription in the spoken language. Add translation to offer other languages." Add translation on the Plan & Billing screen.

"Not on this device's plan: ES." Add that language to this device on the Plan & Billing screen (Add languages takes you there with it already picked), or remove it from the device's settings.

"This device is over your plan's device count." Add a device on the Plan & Billing screen, or delete a device you don't use.

"Checkout canceled. Nothing was charged." You left the Stripe page before paying. Start again with Continue to checkout.

"Your card was declined." Update your card under Manage billing and try again.

FAQ#

Are there hour or minute limits?#

No. Every plan and add-on has unlimited hours.

Is there a free plan?#

No. The free trial lasts 14 days. After it ends, your archive stays online, but going live needs a paid plan.

Is there a contract?#

No. Billing is month to month. Change or cancel any time. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you've paid for.

We joined before these plans existed.#

Your plan stays exactly as it is. Your Plan & Billing screen may say Grandfathered (unlimited devices and live translation, nothing to buy). Churches on an earlier Web, SW1 or Video plan keep that plan and price.

Who gets billing emails?#

Your church's Org Admins.
