During a service you can watch every device from the Dashboard. You can see if it's online, how loud the audio is, and what it's transcribing and translating. You can also start and stop sessions from there. This works for SW1 boxes, Web devices and OBS devices.

Who it's for#

  • Volunteers keeping an eye on translation during a service.
  • Admins who start and stop devices remotely. Other team members can watch but can't use the controls. They see "Only organization admins can control devices."

Before you start#

  • At least one device that's set up: SW1 box, Web device or OBS.
  • The Dashboard open on any computer, tablet or phone.

The device card#

Open Devices. Each card updates by itself, so you don't need to refresh.

  • Online / Offline badge — Whether the device is connected to SermonWave. Below it, "Online since…" or "Last online…" tells you when it last changed.
  • Services — For SW1 boxes, how many of the box's parts are running. A bar that isn't full means something needs attention.
  • Mic Input — A live level meter with a label: silent, low, good, hot or clipping. You want good while someone speaks.
  • Status — Idle (not translating), Armed (waiting to start when someone speaks) or Recording (live). While recording, the card shows when it started and the latest line of transcription and translation.
  • Auto-stop in… — After a stretch of silence during a session, a countdown appears. If nobody speaks before it runs out, the session ends on its own. Speaking or playing audio resets it.

Start and stop a session#

The controls are at the bottom right of each card.

  1. Start (play icon) — Starts recording and translation right away.
  2. Stop (square icon) — Ends the current session. You're asked "Stop recording on this device? The current session will end."
  3. VOX switch — Arms auto-start. With VOX on, the device starts when it hears speech and stops after a few minutes of silence. SW1 boxes turn VOX on by themselves when they power up.
  4. Recycle (circular arrows, only while armed or recording) — Restarts the translation pipeline if captions get stuck. Audio pauses briefly.

After you click a control, the card may show Waiting for device… until the device confirms. If the device doesn't answer, you see a message with Retry and Dismiss buttons.

For Web devices, the capture page must be open in a browser tab for these controls to work.

The Live tab#

Click a card to open the device. If it's recording, the Live tab opens first.

  • Audio meter — The same level meter as the card, in a larger size.
  • Monitor audio — Listen to the live room audio on your own headphones. This works only when Stream live floor audio to /listen (SW1) or Stream room audio to listeners (Web device) is on. See Device settings. Click Stop monitor to stop.
  • Transcription — What the speaker is saying, in the original language.
  • Translation — The translation. If several languages are on, use the language buttons in its header to switch.
  • Bible verses — When the speaker cites a verse, it can appear at the top with a Read on Bible.com link.

The Status tab#

  • Service Health — Each part of the device with Running or Stopped. The two "Stream (live audio)" entries show Live — audio flowing while someone speaks and Idle — no audio right now when it's quiet. Idle is normal.
  • System Metrics — For SW1 boxes, CPU Temp, Memory, Disk and Uptime. Web devices show browser and connection details instead.
  • Pipeline — State (Recording or Idle) and Queue.

The Activity tab#

Lists past sessions recorded by this device, with Event, Start, End, Duration and Status.

Listener counts#

Listener numbers are on the Events page (per service) and the Home page (for example, This Week's Listeners). They're not shown on the device itself.

What listeners see#

  • While you're live — Your listener page shows the service as live, with a Join Live button. Listeners pick a language and follow the captions or listen to the translated voice.
  • When you stop — New captions stop arriving. Once the session has ended, the live banner disappears from your listener page. Visitors see your church page and past sermons.
  • After the service — The recording appears in your sermon archive. If post-processing is on, it also gets a transcript, summary and translations.

Troubleshooting#

"Pipeline degraded: …" One part of an SW1 box stopped. Click Recycle on the card. If the message comes back, see SW1 troubleshooting.

"…: device is offline" The device isn't connected, so the command wasn't sent. Check the device's network, or for a Web device, check that its tab is open.

The meter moves but no captions appear. Speech may be too quiet or mixed with music. Aim for good on the meter. Then check Noise Filter in Device settings.

"Silence limit reached" The session is ending because nothing was heard for several minutes. Start it again, or turn on VOX so it starts when speech resumes.

FAQ#

Does closing the Dashboard stop translation?#

No. The Dashboard is only for watching and control. SW1 boxes and OBS keep running. For a Web device, keep its own capture tab open.

Can several people watch at once?#

Yes. Anyone in your organization can open the Live tab at the same time.
